I think the Valk looks absolutely amazing, especially the camo. Could you please put up a close-up of it. The canopies are great as well.

"Where are the finished formations?" You may ask, well next week I'll be going to Dunfermline for just over a week to dog/house sit for my dad so I'll have nothing to really do besides painting. So all these testers are really just to get feedback before I go and finish the army. Will also get my marines finished and company'd up.

Feedback appreciated good and bad!

Do you have a system for making that splinter pattern? In the closeups, it looks quite complicated...

It's just being methodical, doing one stage at a time really and eyeballing it to make sure one coloured patch isn't clashing/dominating too much with/over the others. Start with base colour, then do the dark shapes followed by the light trying to get some overlap with the dark. Follow that up with some choc chip style black/white splodges; wash and then highlight/weather and you're done.

The shapes are just overlapping polygons adjusting direction where appropriate. It's a lot harder on tank hulls but I think if I keep the same colour pallet, it'll still look good when you bring all the seperate units together.

I used the Swedish M95's I use for airsoft as inspiration as well as my original GW source.

I think the camo scheme looks fantastic on the Valk. It is also easier to make it out on a large flat surface like the wings rather than the rather complicated texture on a tracked vehicle. Although your close-ups of the vehicles look great too, it is hard to make it out due to all the long sharp angles that conflict with the pattern (track guards, turrets etc.). I might have considered bringing a little bit more contrast into the pattern for my tracked vehicles (in effect a little brighter on the brightest colour and a little darker on the darkest colour). I assume (although I might be getting old and my screen is medieval) but it looks like a three-colour-pattern. That might make it a little bit easier to discern the camo scheme from the regular shades. Just a thought.

Great job,
Fredmans

Cheers Fredmans, you are right no need to fear about ageing/medieval tech, will have another crack at these 2 tanks and post progress asap.

Thanks ulric the comment is appreciated.

Well apparently I'm on fire today, set out to work in the sunshine today and in no time at all got 20 tanks completed.

Fruits of my labours:

A friend from the local epic group has kindly offered to pay me to paint his many remaining guard models, as a test he gave me a russ co to paint:

I think they've come out looking pretty good but I was shocked by how much detail the models appear to have lost, also some worrying metal growths on the sponsons that needed cutting off.

Couldn't resist the meme. :p

I've become conscious of the number of images on this page so I've linked most of these instead. Please comment to reduce the issue :D
