Hi!
Thanks for listing the parts. I like it when people make conversions with parts that anyone can get.
Will someone pin that particular message for easy access?

Thursday 27th November After a long period of inactivity (damn you, real life!) I picked up the sprues again. I want to get the entire force assembled ready for painting. To this end, I preped the first tactical formation... and that is it! More this weekend. When I have most of it assembled I will post a picture.
I have also arranged to play a game over the weekend against my regular opponent. However, it will be his Guard against my (his!) Orks. The scenario is The Battle of Slim River. I am looking forward to it and it will help me to evaluate my force.

I think that I can safely say that I wont be able to make any 'end of the month' deadline!
This weekend saw little painting, but I did get a game in. I wont go into the details, as I will be writing it up for inclusion on my site, and I will throw a copy at Incoming too.
We did find that, while the rules worked well, the actual layout leaves a lot to be desired!
For example, having the force list and the force stats in two completely different places is confusing. Also, finding out the strategy and initiative values is not too easy. And, things like blast marker removal took a while to find, in particular the difference between regrouping and rallying difficult to work out as they were seperated by a load of pages. I know that most of us here would have no problem, but I really feel that it will put off the new players (and stop them buying the minis, which is bad).
Still, I was sceptical about the close assault rules, but we found that they actually worked really well and I am coming around to the method.
The end thoughts of the game was that it is important to get a good balance between the rank and file, to fill out the numbers, and the fighters, to actually win a few dice rolls.
I played Orks in the game, and it did get me thinking about an Ork force.... must... remain... focussed... on... Marines!

Well hopefully the actual E:A rules will be more easy to use. But the more you play the more you get to know the rules !

Hi!
There is a learning curve in any game, simple or not. I haven't seen a rulebook yet were some flipping through was not necessary, its hard to get any work that size to flow well reading-wise.
Looking forward to seeing your report CS!
