very nice, and i disagree, i think the warp gate is fantastic.i wasnt sure about the wings before but painted it really works, and remember they can be far older than a craftworld.

That Warp Gate is a work of art... :O

Thanks for posting your 'recipe' for the paint job too - I'm sure this'll come in handy to myself and many other people on here! :)

Oh I forgot to say add water to it before you apply the mix.

Also if you remember Tyranid Attack, the actual Iyanden Craftworld is white. Also all the Eldar buildings I have ever seen are white, there is a really nice picture on the inside cover of the new Eldar book of Yriel and his croneys on what looks like a wraithships bridge which is also white.  Anyhow saying that I don't think it should tie in too closely with the army, it's a building, and the whole network was made before the fall.

The new trick I've found is not to zoom in on the models. that means that most of the model is going through the central part of the lense so you get a better depth of field.

I found it allows more light in too, meself. :D

I wanted to give it the feel of porcelein to make it look eldar made, so I undercoated with white spray and gave the whole model a wash of 3 part skull white, 3 parts bleached bone, 1 part brown ink and 6 parts matt varnish, this worked perfectly.

I'll say!

I can't seem to get it perfectly sharp even now. I think I will have to link in a second flash and possibly add an extra reflector in. Anyone got any ideas?

If I knew that myself I'd be very glad to tell you! ?At the moment the best advice (for myself) is 'get a better camera'.
I hear complete control over the aperture and shutter speed is a good thing.

Anyway, back on topic: I have to say this thread is a frickin' joy to look at.

My girlfriend is really into photography so the camera I'm using is really good. It's  just trying to work out all the functions that's the problem.

I'm just about to start work on my first swords of vaul formation. I want to batch paint it so I've made a little rig to help with this. normally I drill the flyer, put in a paper clip and use the pin vice to hold the model when I'm working with it. It's really comfortable to hold. I unfortunately do not own 6 pin vices (the thought to buy 4 more went though my mind). So I made something to hold it out of a sprue. the cross bar is important so you can leave it to dry when you put on the washes. Ironically the sprue is from a 40k falcon.

I really want to make the Spiritseer Iyanna Arienal, the Angel of Iyanden as my Supreme commander. Now the problem I have is not with her, I have lots of bits I can plunder to make her suitably impressive. The problem is with her bodyguard which is a Giant Wraith constuct with the soul of a exarch in it. Now what do I use to make this? any ideas people.

My current thoughts is to use vects pistol as the head. It looks about the right shape and size and nicely impressive

vect's pistol

and use this guy as the body

ironclad imp

I'm not 100% sure it will work though. he is a touch bulky. If I replace the sword with a more eldar looking one, add a scatter lazer, replace the head and add autarch wings as fins on the back. It might just work?

OK.. the first falcon. I think it's come out nicely, just a bit worried that it doesn't fit with the army.. I don't think I'll know until I have the whole formation done.
