on the painting front, are you using an airbrush for all the work on the tank or just layering and camo stripes?

remind me to pick your brains about airbrushes at the expo ;) I have steel legion plans myself

Thanks all!

@kyussinchains - just for the layering and camo stripes, it's so far the only time I've used one, so there's probably loads of other things it would be good for that I don't have a clue about. See you there!

Now for some significantly more boring stuff...

I'm cutting all the bases for my infantry at the moment, made them a little larger than my last test, do they look too large now? They are around one mm shorter than the standard epic ones, but quite a bit fatter.

This shows the three potential bases for my big mutants. Either a standard sized infantry base, a heavy weapons sized base, or a small artillery base. The mutants weapons seem to hang over the side of the infantry base, and I think they will make the base fall over as they are a little top heavy. I'm thinking of using the larger hollow base on the back left of the first photo. Would this be a ridiculous size?

Looks cool!

Tangentially related, have you ever taken a look at 123D Make?
http://www.123dapp.com/make

Basically you can turn a 3D model into layers for cutting.

Looks interesting, cheers for the link! I'll see if I can find any use for it.

Got some paint on the hell talon. I haven't added any weapons to it yet, may just use paper clips or something to add a barrel to the front.

It's still particularly thin, even with an extra layer of card in between, but at least it looks like the right kind of shape from on top!

I haven't painted the pipework yet, as I am undecided on how to paint them. I was thinking either a brassy-tin metallic, or maybe some kind of purple or bluey colour.

I've had these done for a while, but hadn't got round to posting them up. Another few vehicles ready for the Black Legion list I'm running at the moment and the finally painted Helltalon bombers. The lighting's a bit poo, but there is some shading on the minis I promise!

Okay, quick disclaimer. The following miniatures were dug out of storage today, where they have been dormant for the past 15 years. They were painted and converted by a 10 year old me, so be gentle! Back in the day I used to have an abundance of time but a very limited amount of (pocket) money, hence I'd spend ages on conversions etc.

Back when GW used to have sales, my brother and I wandered in to the Bristol store as they were trying to get rid of their entire stock of Epic 40k, which set us up for years. In fact most of it remains unpainted. Being 10, actually playing the game was a bit of an ask, but I did used to love the miniatures, predominantly because it meant I could actually own what I wanted to own in 40k scale instead!

I made an Eversor assassin out of a chaplain mini, based on my favourite 40k miniature at the time. He's just decapitated a spare IG commander model I must have had lying around at the time.

I made a drop spore thing out of a crushed walnut shell and added some gribblies and spores coming out. These guys were based using some form of oxide compound from the factory my dad was working at at the time, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it's carcinogenic, but I obviously thought it looked cool!
