The Shades, Glazes and Textures look promising ... I swear by G/W Washes !!

I think the textures might be pricey to base a whole army. Might have to find cheaper option. But still kudos to GW for trying the idea- will certainly help many kids who would nt have thought to look for alternatives for basing figures.

Well that was pretty damming, especially at 5:30ish with the suggestion that the new bases as more like the 'old' regular colour, with layers being in effect pre-watered. Metallics with larger pigment size is annoying as well, i was planning to stick with GW for metallics if nothing else.

You should check out the Vallejo and Reaper metallics. In fact I actually use vallejo model air metallics as the metal flecks are by necessity very fine. it gives an unparalleled effect IMO even when used with a brush. If you are used to using a flow enhancer with your paints then you'll immediately get the idea.

I see the old Washes are being replaced by Shades ... hope they are as good as the old Washes. I may go by the Hobby Shop and stock up on the older washes just in case ... :eh

I did some tinkering with the new washes last night while watching the new telemavision. When I carried the bottles back to the normal work table, half of the ink spilled onto the carpet.

I'm not too thrilled with the new bottle design - one thinks it's closed, but it's really not.

And yes, I finally bought a television after being without one for 7 years.

This is why I use dropper bottles. No paint pots for me!

Did something similar earlier, my missus wanted the nuln oil so after "shutting it" I tossed it about a meter across the room to her..end result black wash on the ceiling, the floor and my better half needless to say she has stormed off to bed, im pretty sure she isnt talking to me and the pillows and quilt she threw down the stairs may be hinting at something!

almost forgot to mention that the new wash seems to be a little better than the old in that it doesnt seem to pool as bad.....and from this evenings incident it seems to cover well too

;D ROFL ;D

I feel for you, man. I really do.

I hope things eventually clean up for you, both with the walls and with the missus.

I bought a couple of the new base paints (white and the bright red) to play around with and I quite like them..... the bottles are indeed a total bast, but they both cover really well, better than skull white and mechrite red

I nearly picked up a pot of the textured stuff yesterday, but then remembered that vallejo do a textured paint which is much cheaper per unit volume, so I'll be grabbing that from Maelstrom this thursday instead.....

If one has ready access to a general art supply store Liquitex effects texture gels are the same thing and in a 237ml jar an excellent value. Most of the Liquitex effects gels are neutral in color, just add some paint. They make basing, especially in 28mm, a breeze.

I picked some up. Its next to useless for 6mm basing. Some sand and some craft paint is a better idea.
