Salamanders? :)

Subjugators actually. Everyone calls them Salamanders though. :glare:

Hopefully that will be rectified with some decals, those won't be making an appearance until everything is painted though. Good news is there's not much left!

10 Scout stands
4 Dreadnoughts
3 Thunderhawks
1 Landing Craft
~10 Characters

I finished assembling the Scouts this week (2/26). The Space Marine Sergeants were taking too long to find, plus I was completely happy with the way the heads looked on the Shadow Knight Bodies. So I went with Catachan heads instead.

I also put together another pair of Dreads, along with two multi-melta versions just because I had the parts kicking around.

Image

These are my Librarian proxies (the Servitor with the multi-melta is supposed to represent the MW firefight attack). I converted them with the model out of the SM character pack and some spare Land Speeder multi-meltas.

Finally, the rest of my characters. An Apothecary and soon to be Standard Bearer (Chaplain proxies), a Terminator Chaplain and two Jump Pack Chaplains.

Got some work done on the Scouts this week (3/5). These guys are probably going to take another two Mondays though. There's a lot of detail I'm trying to pick out. You can also see the Heavy Bolter ammo boxes I finally got around to putting on them:

More work on the Scouts again this week (3/12). I did the highlights for the armor, gear and cloaks, and got halfway through base coating the pistols and swords. One more week ought to do it for these guys, I need to finish the pistols and swords, do their heads, and then base them.

Forgot to take pictures Thursday night (3/18) and ended up having a busy weekend, so here's the pics for last Friday.

I finished up the Scouts with a week to go before Havoc. They performed admirably in their games over the weekend (one unit managed to hold off a Chaos retinue charge from a unit worth three times as much as it). I contribute this success to the extra time spent on their paint job.

Here's the regular Scout stands.

Not much this week (3/26), I started work on some forest terrain for HAVOC (no pictures yet) and painted some spaceships for my cousin as a birthday present. Nothing spectacular but I only had a couple of days to paint them.

Image

They're from ZandrisIV Miniatures and are styled after the Kadesh from Homeworld the PC game.

AAAAAAAAAnd we're back!

Didn't quite get this stuff done for HAVOC, and I also grabbed the wrong underbrush color from my local store last night. Once I get the right color for the trees these will be good to go.

Image

I used wooden bases that I got at Michaels for cheap, Woodland Scenics tree armatures (which were primed brown, dry brushed light brown, gray, and then washed with green and brown) and WS underbrush and course flock.

This week was War Engine Week (and some trees). I started painting my Landing Craft. The dry brushes are done, next week I'm hoping to do the black, gunmetal and washing.

Image

The trees are finally flocked and done. Behold them in all their foliaged glory!
Image

My plan is to use them with some bases I made last year, like so. The bases by themselves represent scrub, with the tree bases on them they're forests. I left room on all the bases for the trees, so they fit snugly between the bushes and rocks already on them.
Image

And finally, here's my Warlord I started building. The Volcano Cannon and Gatling blaster are from a FW Reaver, I need to plasticard them up some longer arms. The TLDs I've modified so they aren't firing off into the sky. Once the weapons are glued on all I have to do is putty up some gaps (and paint it :P).

Those trees turned out really nice. I may end up just doing something similar with mine rather than deal with adding in sockets for the trees to rest in. I'll be interested in how easily the trees can be bumped around with your method.

Thanks, my plan was to make moving them around easy in game.

I have 6 bases all told: 2 with 2 tree spaces, 2 with 3 tree spaces, and 2 with 4 tree spaces. That's 18 tree spaces in total.

I have 12 tree stands total, so the idea was to have 1 tree stand on the base with 2 spaces, 2 on the one with 3, and 3 with the one with 4. That way, if you need some more space for models there will always be a tree space empty, and you can bump the tree stands around as needed.
