Nobody need to have so much points
but hey it`s called EPIC and we ARE crazy
I liked it very much to have the opinon to field a squadron of tanks or a battalion
another point is that the imperial army has such a large amount of units
if you want them all(in company size) you Will get 20000 points or more

but most battles we played were from 6000 to 15000 pts

my picture seems to be too large
what can I do?

@ man of kent
my space marines army is nearly finished
and the imperial guard is at 50% painted
only knights and titans waiting with a lot of work

You should be able to resize your picture pretty easily.  Just left-click on the pic and select "resize" then choose small, medium, large, etc.

Do you have a image editiing program on you computer? You should open your file there and save it in a compressed format (.jpg) You can also use a crop tool to cut away unnecessary parts of the photo (if for ecxample you're photographing a single miniature you may not with to have half of the kitchen table on the pic as well) This will also help reduce the file size. In order to upload a photo to these boards your image must be no larger than 150kb large (you average camera will probably snap pics that are between 2 and 10 mb depending a bit on the ammount of megapixel) The physical dimensions of the image doesn't matter much, but a smaller image is also less kb. For these boards between 800 and 1000 pixels wide is more than adequate as the boards tend to resize the images anyway.

If you use the upload function on these boards you can only add one pic to each post (but there's nothing stopping you from making several posts in a row of course :) . If you upload to an external site (like flickr or photobucket or your own website) you can add more using the "image" button located above the reply window. You then simply copy/paste the URL of the image.

Nobody need to have so much points

Always dangerous to talk about "need" on a wargames forum. Our definition of "need" I suspect would differ from the definition given in dictionary.

Jut rememeber it is not a competition to have more Epic minatures than others. Just to have sufficient to mee our own individual needs. Of course each person's individual needs are different- what is a horde to some is a mere skirmish screen to others. Also some people play small number of games and thus the collections are more concentrated. Others play multiple gaming systems and thus their focus is more dissipated.

What I have found the best thing about this thread is the sheer amount of PAINTED Epic figures. Anyone can collect large amounts of unpainted figures- it is far harder to invest the time and paint them to good gaming standard. That is the inspiring part of this thread.

And personally it has made me echo zemeister by thinking I need to paint more and faster!!

Cheers

James

I can`t match with this guys here
so for Me it was never a competition

I love to play big games
and for me is it nearly the same fun as if the models are painted or not

yes my imperial army is painted to (only) 50%
but my aim is to get 100% so I think there is no problem

Hey Ulric,

That's a nice horde of stuff you have there. I ended up being the guy with all the stuff for the group. there were four of us and we like to play campaign games. Big, campaign games. I agree it's not a competition but I can't help feeling like I need more stuff for all the types of armies. Epic should be... um, Epic.

I think I posted an approximate as to how much stuff I have somewhere... ah, here it is... have a look.

Hehe yeah. Not a competition, but once you get caught up in collecting it is difficult to stop again :D Then you want an entire Marine Chapter, then an IG batallion or even a regiment, then a Titan Legion etc.etc. :D

It is true that the real challenge is to get all your stuff painted to a decent standard though. I think my current stash stands between 2/3 and 3/4 painted. Storage is also a problem to be honest. That said there is a certain satisfaction in having a truely monsterous army set up on the table in front of you. Although I'm sure everybody here are collecting because they think it is fun, it is difficult to deny just a tiny bit of E-peen stroking when we compare pics of "who's got the bigger army" :D :)
My own stuff is on the last two pages of Warhead's tread. I haven't really had time to paint up anything since those pics were taken.

Thanks O'man for the nice hello. (Psst, I've not forgotten. I'm doin' it or I will do it, or is it I may will have been doing it).

Yup, WMN has it covered. I agree, I'd be a mad fool not to. I think part of the fun IS about the collecting too. So long as you use what you buy anyway. Good luck Ulric.
