Words fail me here. I  must admit that asking for permission to make a limited metal cast of these from GW would be warranted as I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one who would want these.

I think that'd be a good idea ; Given a complete range of models (You may notice several guys on this website all working on different Necron models right now) I think that if someone who had some GW/FW connections showed the models in person to the right people, we might see something happen.

Theoretically speaking, of course.  :;):

If you do something like this, and I seriously suggest you don't, then go to FW only.

I have to say, Phwooar, Missus! That Lord is flippin' gorgeous! Lovely work - it seems criminal not to produce them.

It would be risky, though - because they are so good, you can see at a glance that they are GW IP. I have to wonder if it would be worth sending some pics of them to GW, along with a petition begging them to cast them...

Regards,
Reaver

I dunno what it would hurt.

Are you actually serious?

You think that going to GW with minis based on their IP and talking about wanting to do a small commercial run of them isn't going to get an IP lawyer tossing cease and desist briefs at you?

Any mention of any sort of commercial activity will require them to take legal action.

Copyrights and IP rights are only enforceable if you are seen to be doing so and turning a blind eye to any commercial use of your rights is an open door for others to do the same.

It doesn't matter if Rick and Jervis think its a great idea. They aren't the guys that enforce GW's IP rights.

I mentioned FW as I think they might be more likely to produce them if they like them but GW isn't going to... if they wanted to sell Epic Necrons they would have released them like the planned to.

And?

And you need to read what I was replying to.

Where the mention of limit runs for sale was brought up and where I made my first reply.

You can't ignore what I was replying to and then *shrug* because you don't agree with something that I wasn't even saying

And, yes they can send out cease and desist letters for reasons that are entirely outside the law. They just assume, correctly in every case I have heard of, that the parties won't want to spend the money to fight to defend their legal rights.

You're being wildly naive if you think people only send out letters from lawyers when they are in the right and have the legal recourse to do so.

Good God man! They are frikkin fantastic! 8v)  Can't wait to see the nightbringer
also with the casting I agree FW would be the way to go despite the fragility of the resin as GW would not be impressed (though possibly jealous)
though you could just cast them up privatelly and "share" them amongst the community... :upside:

If anyone is going to cast them at GW then it would be the FW guys.

And they'd also be more in need of a 6mm sculptor than GW so its better to show your work to someone in a position to use you if they like your work.

Personally, I'd prefer to lobby for FW to open a metal casting line for Epic infantry.

Such a thing would only happen if there were a complete set of miniatures (One or two full armies) pre-prepared.

The above is pure theory, of course.
