Nice Slasher Gargant, MoK. I had forgotten about sponging. I'll have to try it when I get around to painting my Gargants.

Go to an art shop and buy a nice soft silver pencil. Good for quick and easy random "chips", and you can run it down panel joins then carefully wash in some black to put the line back in.  You do need to seal it afterwards, so I just leave it until just before matt coat.  Perhaps not that easy to see but I used this tech on the leading edges of the wing, tail and cowlings on this:

Looks great MoK!
I'd have to agree with you on the Slasha being one of the better Epic models; the big ol' belly and goofy grin are klassik Ork.

I'll second Vaaish on using a sponge for chips.  You can get really good results using sponging to both add rust and add base paint over rust.  The foam they throw into mini packs works great for sponging.

Gargants are a great target for traditional AFV techniques.  They have enough surface area & texture to work well with pigments, oils, & even color modulation.

BANS' ORKS!

This one's been a long time coming and I suddenly realise how out of my epic painting loop I've got! Nevertheless here's some pictures for you all: god knows how many hours I spent on them...but anyway they'll be flying thier way across to their hopefully happy owner by the end of the day :-)
YRs,

actually I priced myself a bit too low on that one (epic orks) although part of that was to do with me being a bit too slow getting anything done...I used another studio's pricing policies to figure out how much to charge but I believe mine are better quality but think I paint too slow to charge a reasonable price...it's a trade off between time and quality and I go for quality: to make a proper go og it I need to be able to motivate myself a bit more...
that said I'm going to PM Bans now and when they arrive his end want to know if he thinks he got a good deal and how much he'd honestly be willing to pay: the deal is all done now so he's nothing to lose!
