Good paintjob, but yes the holes are a bit shocking, sorry about that.

I wouldn't say "shocking". They were so tiny I didnt' even see them until I started painting. It's because the designs have such large, flat surfaces that they stand out. I would probably give future OKI products a good wash with watered-down liquid greenstuff before priming in future, though.

They look good. Gotta admit I didn't realise there were any holes until you mentioned them.
I think you've made them work well, breaks up the surfaces quite nicely...

Like your paint scheme! I've just acquired a few of the same buildings & was thinking of doing something similar, seeing this has convinced I'm on the right track!

I've been meaning to ask here for a while how to build rocky terrain and noticed you had some (on page 1 of this thread), do you have any tips?

I don't know what Mike had in mind when he designed them, but I imagined them being reinforced concrete shells over a durable polymer/ceramic. In my mind, these are colonial buildings, designed for temporary habitation. They are dropped onto a planet's surface looking like the small one and the medium and large ones then fold themselves out.

No doubt as a colony expands and starts building its own permanent structures, these will continue to serve as workshops, garages and emergency shelters.

Pretty much spot on.
The OKI Coporation can arrive on site and have the foundations laid and all structures erected and habitable within 48 hours.
This includes connecting power, utilities, waste and also furniture within the MHUs.

They are pre-fabricated and assembled on site by the OKI engineers.

Colony in a box, or shake and bake as some prefer...

And now for something slightly different:

Image

These are Crusaders (heavy infantry) from 15mm.co.uk - technically they are from their 6mm range, although they're rather tall for 6mm. Still, they are really nice, well-proportioned and excellently detailed for their size, and a bargain for the price.

More has followed!

First, a platoon of the 15mm.co.uk power armoured chaps:

Then some of their basic infantry:

And I also got some stuff from Baccus 6mm, which is much more "6mm" than the 15mm.co.uk stuff:

BTW, @TheBissler - Sorry I missed your question about the rocky outcrops. They are made by cutting some irregular hardboard bases, gluing rocks from my garden to them, filling the space with polyfilla, then sanding the lot and painting it. They weigh quite a lot, but it stops them from moving around on the tabletop, which is good. And they are nicely non-scale-specific.

So, an update in honour of the Osprey/Horizon Wars announcement.

First, some minis from Spartan Games's Dystopian Wars line, because Horizon Wars works perfectly well down to 3mm and can accommodate these models (although you'll need the "Super-heavies" expansion rules for the really big stuff):

And some more stuff from Brigade Models:

And, now that Wargames Emporium, Command Horizon's new owners have given permission for me to use them:

And finally, I had some spare EM4 bits lying around, so I made a couple of objective markers (which, incidentally, aren't required to play Horizon Wars, but they're fun to have). Here's one of them:

By the way, when I started this thread I was basically unemployed. I now have a proper job so time for taking quality photos is extremely limited. Most of the pics above are taken at work, where I do painting in my lunch hour. If you'd like to see more of my 6mm and non-6mm painting from my lunchtime efforts, then search for the hashtag #lunchtimepainting on Twitter or Facebook.

Coming up next: buildings.

A couple of buildings from Gregster's Lab, who've just finished an Indiegogo campaign and were nice enough to let me have some pre-production casts:

Image

And some scratch-built pieces (the gate and generator on the one on the left are spare parts from Gregster's Lab):

Image

I have three of these finished and they also stack:

(I took this shot from the back of the building to show off the graffiti of which I'm inordinately proud.)

I have a load more buildings - including some brilliant stuff from Gregster's Lab - but the photos are all on my old phone and I haven't transferred them yet. I'll get it done and show some more pics soon.
