Pardon me while I thread-jack for a moment here but...

*ding dong*

Who is it?

Landship!

http://www.dreamforge-games.com/DreamFo ... opic=112.0

Actually... if you scaled it down and then if you yanked the las-guns off the sides, put epic scale bolters "amidships" like AA on a WW2 battleship and put a big turret on the front instead of the multiple turrets...

This would actually look kinda cool as a CI.

Admittedly it would be more of a terrain item... and an expensive one at that... than a game piece but...

Hi!

WOW!  :l

Impressive kit!

I agree an epic version of this would be great!

Weird, 'new posts' never dug up Dalton's monster! I'm suddenlt relieved I dedicate most of my conversion time to Epic.... where would I PUT that thing? It IS nice, though. And used as a carrier bag - aaaargh!
Anyway, I like it.

High humidity here in Malta today - when I got up I thought the sea level had gone up and nobody'd told me... :( :p

Work has progressed on the C-rhino-I. I've solved the Behemoth cannon issue, and added a few more very small modifications. This is taking long! Sorry guys.
Pics later. :O

Don't worry about it, V. I'm sure it will be worth the wait to see your pics. ?

Past few days here in Connecticut, we've been suffering with 100% humidity. ?And now the temperature is pushing 100 degrees, which is about 37 Celsius.

Hi all,
here we go again. I've been worrying about how to get the Behemoth cannon in place - this can go on top, on top inside a turret, up front (but choosing to locate a pair of doors there ruled that out) or up front low down, below the doors, a la gutbuster. You'll see my decision - er - in the next set of posts. Because now I'll tackle some minor but important issues

28mm scale details - these have to be removed or hidden. I'm showing just one example here - one of the lateral hatches has a ladder going up it's side: I cut away the rungs, and will now fill in the slots which complement the rungs. Here you can see midway between these stages - no rungs, but the holes are left.

This means the cannon won't be located up top in the traditional position. These two are what I call the command structure - this will be the commander's post, and will also cater for signalling and communications. I'm considering scrapped keyboards as being easy to find. You may, of course, wish to use different letters....  :p

The pic attached here shows three components from the storm bolter from the IG vehicle accessory frame. Now I've just realised the Rhino does not include these components. These are not critical to the conversion, so I'm going to go ahead and use them. The storm-bolter halves will become an exhaust assembly; the ammunition cannister an outhouse (   :p  ) on the roof of the CI. I will try to lay my hands on the Land Raider accessory sprue which comes with the Rhino (mine was a Chaos Rhino, and does not include this; and I didn't use any Chaos bits to keep things more flexible).

The white cylinder is just a pair of plastic pipe sections (available from modelling stores) which I'm using as the Behemoth. Any spare cannon, or even a section of plastic pen body can be used as a gun (if properly used, anyway). The trick is how to mount it. The windscreen thingy (the long thin grey bit) comes from the Rhino sprue, and will be useful - but this will be made clear in the next instalment.
cheers all  :D

Hi Dysartes,
well, I was busy bashing a couple more keyboards.... :p
Yes, although I was also busy with some other projects - the cannon assembly is complete - butI still have to take pics and post them! Maybe later on today? :D

Hi all,
next lesson - at last. Sorry for the delay, but what with the ToEG, the Epicomp, a space marine project  :blues:  , cowboys, a 40K army, and a WHFB army, it's been a bit hectic here.
Today - the Behemoth cannon. I've decided to make this a dorsal mount, which means the cannon will be fixed to point out of the circular open hatch on the back of the vehicle. The pic shows two details.
1 - The barrel consists of two pipe sections inserted into each other. I coulve used any cannon left over from elsewhere, but I decided to scratchbuild this. The barrel end appears too thin, so I've added a ring of the wide diameter pipe over the muzzle.
2 - The barrel is stuck to the visor from the Rhino kit. THIS IS A STUNT PHOTO! The visor will be stuck to the inside of the Rhino roof, just at the hatch. The long flat surface will be oriented to be at an angle to the vertical. The barrel will be stuck to, and supported by, this surface, as shown in the photo. But this assembly cannot be inserted in the Rhino, so I'll first stick the shield inside it, and then glue the barrel to the shield.

Clear as mud, I guess....

Next - more work on the CI roof top.

Cheers all.
:D

Here's the Behemoth cannon in place at last - I stuck the windshield inside the Rhino first, and after the glue had dried well, I stuck the cannon onto it. This pic shows the general view of the vehicle....

... and here's a view from the top. Next - I have to do something about that circular hole around the cannon...  :-:

The ex-windshield, inside the Rhino at the base of the cannon, can just be made out inside the circular hole.  :l

Me likes! :;):  A somewhat more realistic place to position a major artillery piece when you think about it. One thing missing though is some sort of machinery to make it look as if it can be elevated and turned in some way. -but then again that's the next step perhaps? :;):

Cheers! :)
