Thanks for all the comments!
L4 is right, it usually only takes about 24hrs for Simple Green to strip most models. However, I've found that if you leave it for a few days, you have to work less at scrubbing off the figs. I've also found that if you do it in two waves its a lot easier. Dunk them for 24-48 hrs, use a toothbrush to scrub off all the paint that has come loose, then dunk them again for another 24hrs or so. That way, the stuff in the cracks gets more time to come loose, and you have to use a pick or knife less to get gunk out of the cracks and crevasses.
Those tanks, for instance, were done over the course of a week, just grabbing one and going at it until I was satisfied with the lack of paint. If it needed it, I just threw it back in and cleaned it some more later. Oddly, the hardest ones to clean were the Land Speeders (you can't even see them in the bucket), as they had the most deep crevasses.
I've started painting the Guard, but I've run into a snag. All my Brazen Brass has gone hard (all 5 pots >.<), so I need to find a replacement colour. I can do basecoats, but I wanted these to match my 40k army. So, everything but metal accents are being done, and I'm testing mixes like a madman.
