Somehow I have ended up a part of this project as well.  Converting some characters in terminator armour up (when I say some I mean lots) :)!  Having done a fair few conversions for CAL001 in his Ulthwe army (http://www.tacticalwargames.net/cgi-bin ... =7;t=11721) I have taken on that side of things for the Iron warriors.

This is the WIP Warmaster, its pretty much finished, it might get a little flag on top but thats about it.

If ever you plan on giving an Epic Chaos Terminator a bionic leg this is my trick.  Cut the whole leg off.  Drill a hole through the base and stick a long piece of paper clip through to superglue in place (other end of clip was attached to my pin vice so I had a handle).  Then add detailing.  It took me ages to figure out a decent way of doing it after I raced ahead and lopped the leg off.

This is some WIP stuff that I done while before the GS set and with some of the other weapons I have hacked up.  Some might get some more details or weapons swaps on the cloak guys.

The robots are supposed to be obliterators, I think the rest will leave the top gun on as it looks better.  Thats how I have done them for my armies.  Not sure if thats the sort of thing expected if not I don't think I am capable of really doing much better.  I realized doing these that normally when converting I rely quite heavily on the paint job to create an overall good effect.  Not sure that they look that great unpainted.

It seems to be a tradition when I do anything for one of CAL001's armies that I end up getting distracted disassembling and reassembling my RC car (the engine that was shipped with my car was faulty and blew while trying to relax a bit during the Ulthwe project).  I have got the new engine in now and added a high performance clutch.  So Saturday was race night.  I realized the clutch is gripping a bit and will need filing down during test runs I was trying to get a few other settings sorted while the engine was hot before taking it to the bench to file it down.  Unfortunately it decided to really grip and went right off the track through some terrain I would rather not have had it go through (very very muddy clay full of big puddles).  Had to take it home for a complete detail and pull out of the race, I didn't want to go playing around in the engine with this much mud on it.

Nitro Fuel.  I thought mine was fast but some of the other guys that race there have ridiculous ones.

That will be tomorrow night of no-conversions for me to clean it up and file down the clutch.  My wife was keen on me getting into that as a hobby because she thought it would be cheaper and less time consuming then minis..... oh how wrong.

Any ideas for potential conversions are muchly appreciated.  Especially if Onyx has any ideas about the stuff you would like to end up painting.

Hey Mark.
Fantastic work mate.

As far as I'm concerned, more of the same is fine with me. It'll be pretty easy to finish such excellent models!

Looking good Mark, and I promise I have put no curses on you and your RC to ensure you work on minis only. Still cant believe that Kim thought RC would be cheaper and less time consuming, was that a selling point for you?

Cheers
Aaron

Great paint and conversion jobs Onyx (as usual) :)

@Mark_Logue: nice conversions but please, remove those ugly laser guns from your obliterators ;)

Thanks :) .

The owner did the conversions though. All I've added are the chains.

Yep we thought the RC would be heaps cheaper as you only need to buy one and thats it whereas armies can end up multiplying continuously.  Unfortunately we didn't factor in how expensive it can be to run something that fangs it around on dirt race tracks at up to 80km an hour, they are really durable when you see how much punishment they take but your luck can only last so long.

In the boards absence I have been alternating between painting a blood bowl team for my wife and converting up more characters for this army.

All in terminator armour I have made:

1 Warmaster
5 Warlords
15 CSM Champs
7 Icon Bearers
7 Sorcerers

A sample of the characters:

I also had Audreys Obliterator Conversion Guide pointed out to me (Link) so the obliterators I had done are getting converted over and the rest will all be done this way.  There are 60 Obliterators (20 stands) going into this army.  That should give some sort of indication of the size the army is going to be.

Cutting away from your fingers doesn't really work that great when your talking 6mm infantry so I ended up with a wicked cut from stabbing into my thumb.  I have started putting tape over my thumb when cutting the powerfist arms of the terminators for these conversions as you need to put a lot of pressure to cut through and then the knife suddenly jumps out halfway through.  Definitely worth the effort though, just be really careful doing them.

Obliterator test samples:

Yep, got a wicked cut on my left fore finger from doing conversion jobs on Rhinos the other night.

Love the look of this army, and I like the character conversions.... Need to start plotting some of them myself...
