Next up, Raptors! I'm using the exodus wars edenite jump troops for these guys.
this is where they are at the moment, construction phase:

Damn you, Royal Mail, hurry up! I'm growing a beard over here...

Sorry, cheesy letdown I know. Just waiting for these guys to cross the pond. Basically, they're the last major bit for the Emperor's Children, besides the banelord titan.

I'll have it be remembered that I suggested the corksheet/holepunch basing scheme to Dave... Seems to have taken off. Of course I'm not sure that I've actually based anything in the bases I've prepared/. :-[

Actually, Dave has been prancing around saying that it was his idea, ever since he suggested it to me. I think he said something like "this is my idea and mine alone. I certainly didn't get it from anyone else, especially Carrington. Anyone who says different is wrong. In fact, if Carrington came up with this idea, then he can punch me in the junk next time he sees me. but he doesn't have the guts."

True story. Even the prancing part. Perhaps especially the prancing part.

:-). Not that I'm at all surprised.

Actually, it was a pretty good trade, I've been using Dave's 'topspray' method for flocking with great success... and he even credited the idea to model railroaders.

I seem to come up with a lot of ideas that I don't remember coming up with myself. For instance, the other day I thought about running some spare Edenite Jump Troops through a sausage grinder to make some rubble basing material. Oh wait... I actually came up with that one myself!

Good way of getting your daily requirement of lead in your sausage.

You know, I seem to remember him saying pretty much the same thing and he was indeed prancing when he said it.

yes, an attempt at a slaanesh-themed dazzle pattern. We'll see how it goes...

on another note, a spare copper arachnid staying true to it's khorne roots:

Yay, the jump troops came in!! Hooray, exodus wars!!

Here they are, based and primed:

For my final two units of the EC, I wanted to add some color variety to the mix.
According to the fluff about raptors, they're a more independent bunch than your average 10,000-year-old legionnaire, so I've decided to paint one formation as Emperor's Children, and the other as the Violators, a Slaanesh-affiliated chaos renegade chapter. They are a dark blue color with silver. So, here's the first coats of paint:

Emperor's Children - white prime with 2 coats baal red wash:

Violators - first coat of blue:

Then, with a drybrush of shadow grey, and a blue wash:

Back to the EC raptors, with future metal bits based black:

You've had them for a whole 72 hours. Why aren't they done yet?

Sunday morning - what better time to update the painting thread?

First up, the Ravager with completed dazzle camouflage scheme. I haven't flocked the base yet, but after 17 pages, I think you all know what that looks like.

I put a thin coat of black wash on the grey and white parts, a thin red wash on the pink, and blue on the blue - you get the idea. On the titan front, I had a "beetle-back" warlord slotted for the banelord titan, but the model is too small. I have a really cool resin head that would work great for a slaanesh titan head (given to me by uberChris), and the hunched-over midget warlord would not do it justice. So, I acquired a Luscious-pattern warlord from Dave. Can't wait to get that thing started.
