Right then; got that sorted; here are some pics: first is a better one of the first beastman stand, second is another test stand of beastmen which i've atempted to 'refine' a little more. I'm going to try Major Gillbears method for beastmen in a bit but don't have any inks so we'll see what the wash i used for the nids looks like...:-s!

Next up are a test stand of cultists/pdf traitors/whatever; i want to get a feel of those crazy blood guardsmen from the siege of vraks but 6mm isn't doing it for me and the red/black reminds me too much of mechanicus; any bright ideas? Method of painting still needs refining on these guys too as does the skin (thanks to all for advice so far.

After that i think today will be a land transporter making day before going to work to play 'Wonderwall' from a balcony for someone's birthday...believe it or not i work as a phonecalling data analyst...(though it's theatre by night...)

KEV: No worries mate :-) i'm being spurred on by seeing stuff here on the forums and seeing them in the flesh was all the better.  I've decided that there's only one possible way that i can trump such skill and that's to sculpt an entire army!!! I shall be picking your brains for a slight green and 'wild' project that i'd like to carry out next year ;-) (can y'guess what it is yet?!)

Very nice work and lovely details. I hope you're not going to paint up some 30+ stands like that though. My own beastmen still sits in a box with just an undercoat and a wash waiting for details for that very reason :p

28 stands of beastmen, 22 of cultists, 5 command stands and 7 big mutants; no skimping on any of them...not to mention ethe demon princes, vehicles, lords of battle, juggernaughts...no skimping this end man!

Well, i figured out why photoshop and my computer weren't working: human error   I of course had nothing to do with this...DUring my frustration at atempting to watch the live streaming of the SUper FUrry Animals new album (anyone else a fan) and having it CRASH on me time and again tonight i bring you:

MOK's MK1 BLAHBLAH PATTERN LANDTRANSPORTER: How to: PT1

Prep
Take yourself an old space marine era plastic battlewagon, readily available on ebay or from yr bits box. Remove the turret, saw off the pointy skull faced dozer bits and also the 'engine' and other bits to create a smooth surface. FIle to flat as necessary

Now it's time to play with plasticard. First we're going to create the 'bed' of the truck. In case new people come across this the easiest way to work with plasticard is to measure the parts you need and then just SCORE the cuts you're gonna make; then the plasticard can be neatly snapped instead. RIght now cut yoursel out two sheets (or one large one) to act as the bed.  Now's the time to start a production line rather than doing these things singulalry.
Next cut out some sides and then using a square 'rod' rather than long sheets create some struts.  I'll leave measurements up to individuals but for structural purposes my tip is to let the sides NOT rest on top of the bed but to meet it at the side and rest on the plastic body of the wagon; also gluing them together at the cornters. GLue on sides and struts as shown. I had to let out a long breath when i realised that i had to create over 70 struts for the 20 odd i'm making...

Take a time at whatever step it is to not that you could also create yourself epic humvee's like this; just lean that front bit back; add seats and figs and you're away :-) I may try this at some time though for what i've no idea!

Not it's time to add the front bits from all those parts you kept earlier and didn't throw in the bin ;-) First take the turret and cut off the peg as well as the gun (keep the gun barrel). Now add a small bit of plasticard on the fronnt and pop the turret (turned 90 degrees) to on top of that.  As per the picture create a khornate/chaos'y looking dozer blade.

More to follow!

I wouldn't like to get in a fight with you then! I can't think of a suitable allegory to describe how little i know about CAD so i'll just leave it at that though.
Can i ask what you use you're tankette as a proxy got by the way? As meantioned before i would like some otterman productions!
R>

PS: why not try making one of the above? Take a few minutes if you've got them, go careful with a scalpel and a ruler and see what you can do! No need to put yrself down o'man :-)

Before i hop off to work:

MoK MK1 BLahBlahBlaah Pattern LandTransporter Pt2: How to.

Well; now that the main structure is done all we really need to do is add details.  That includes the anonymous 'heavy weapons' that all land transporters seem to armed with and, in this case a ladder and rivets. All relatively simple to do but a SHARP knife of chisel blade is needed to get things looking good.   Even so by hand some of my attempts are a bit clunky,  I've hear people reccoment the use of a riveting tool but i don't even know what one of these is! I've also seen battleship accesories put to excellent use.

For this i figured i'd need somehow to REALLY control the flow and placement of glue.  I've mentioned before that i use 14g medical needles to scrape paint out of receses so i just bucthcered one into a pippette.

Well; you're nearly there! Put some crew/passengers in there and you've got yr very own home brewed land transporters :-) I've made 18 and they can't of cost me more than a tenner in total.

Will be finishing off some 'variants' when i get home from work so will show you the total collection and some other slight design differences i've got when i get back.
Laters,
R>

Yeah those plungers can be nasty! - the Daleks demonstrated that with what they did to that poor man's head in Doomsday.

Inspirational work there MoK and good how-to! Great looking Land Transporter

I have more weird and wibbly plans for my own land transporters but I might borrow some of those ideas for my Orks some time in the future.

What are your plans glyn? These are still definitely rather orky but i'm happy enough to include them in a chaos army so i'd be interested to see what other people have been doing.

Finished my 14 LT's this evening including some variants i wanted to try out.  Hydra's still need to be made; after the sucess of this try i think i'll save myself some money and not spend a tenner on 4 OOP one's off of ebay and jusy make my own Quad autocannon arrangements and create 'armoured' land transporters.

Here are some picture for you then.

I tried out MG's beastmen technique the other day but lacking the proper inks i dno'nt know if it worked too well; there's not enough 'depth' and contrast on the brown for my liking so i think i'll try some more 'unsubtle' highlighting instead.

Next on the list is to grind down the bases on some WArmaster Demons i'm using to make them a litle smaller looking, to undercoat everything that needs doing and then we're away towards the REAL work!

i was thinking of useing some micro armour german halftraks, with a little chaos moding of course. yours look really good but ide hate to have to do a bunch of them.
as far as too orky, I always thought the skull on the front of that model was rather more chaos than ork anyway.

They look ramshackle in general rather than necessarily orky, great look for a low/scrap tech LatD.

Torn two ways here but I think I'd prefer to keep my gribbly chaos plans under-wraps for the moment, sorry! I have some interesting ideas and want my chaos to look more weirdly chaotic, mutated and disturbing than the 'imperials with loadsa spikes' look some modern chaos armies/imagery can take, but I want to resist sharing them with the forum till they're realised in the form of actual painted models.

I'm planning on converting and painting up a handful of chaosy models for the different powers over the next few months though to brush up and practice my skills after a few years not doing any modelling, before embarking on my big project of the 4k Eldar Exodite army. Will post up the results.

You're a tease sir! I look forwards with baited breath.

TOday i shall be painting the beastmen. Yesterday i ifnishised priming everything only to fin d that the spare can of spray paint that i nicked after some graffiti/stencil work i'd been doing was in fact 'satin'...hope this turns out okay!

The only black Halfords in my area do is satin black and it seems to be fine...so far.
