Great little BW conversion!  That would fit perfectly into an Ork army as well. :agree:

It looks like you could produce those en masse pretty easily by just pre-cutting your components and then going at it assembly line style.

Wow, those transports are great, I'm gonna have to nick that idea, I think I'll keep them as ork wagons though, hmmmmm.

Just looking at a few auctions on ebay for battlewagons to do exactly (well not quite as good probably) what you have done.

Excellent creative skills! Damn you making me want to go back and do another army!

Thanks for the offer Bob. Got way more than enough on my plate at the minute to start up another army. Already planning my next Chaos Marine force - Dragon Warriors using Red Corsairs list.

May get back to you though!

Huzzah! Another trend started :-) THough i tip my hat to Ghudra for original inspiration.

Test stand of Beastmen/Mutants today, drybrushed base layers, details added free hand...

Not sure what i think yet; the horns and hooves need a lot more definition so probably working up from a darker base layer, weapons handles in brown blend into the bodies too much and i don't know about the red at the moment; maybe keeping it darker? Red gore instead?
Gonna try defining the muscle structure by hand tonight and then applying a was to see what that does.

They look good imo. Ive been thinking long and hard about my own IG beastmen and havent yet come up with a good scheme. They are cool minis but not easy to get right. This scheme looks very good. I think the red works good too. Did you start from a black base coat and then drybrush with bestial brown?

Having painted up (lots) of beastmen for my old SM2 IG army, I can give you some advice here I think!

Firstly, I'd do the base on that test model. I know it sounds dumb, but because the scheme is quite dark, you can't tell if the models have enough contrast or not until you see them againt the finished 'background' (-ie, base).

Then, as a general Beastman painting technique, I'd suggest the following:

1> Paint the model in a basecoat mix consisting of a 1:1 ratio of your chosen brown and Bleached Bone
2> Paint the horns Bleached Bone
3> Wash the whole model with Devlan Mud
4> Repaint the hooves in the 1:1 base colour mix
5> Touch up horns if needed, and add highlights to main body if necessary
6> Finish up other details as usual

You might want to try using two different browns to make two different base colours so that your beastmen look less uniform. Also, using a flat light grey instead of BB for the basecolour mix can work better with some browns.

With a slight colours tweak, this works well for Rough Rider cavalry too.

Otherwise, I have to say that I really like the colours you've chosen a lot!  :))

More test pices to come in the morning i reckon; photobucket and my computer aren't agreeing with each other at the moment :-(...sorry folks!

In the meantime i'd love some tips on how people paint half decent skin tones in epic; simple stuff like guardsmen's hands and faces...

Looking forward to see more of your excellent stuff!

I do human skin like this: bronzed flesh highlighted with bleached bone. I make the highlight pretty dominant, so that the darker tone doesnt get too visible. Bronzed flesh as such is a much to dark, and more importantly too pinkish colour imo.

Dwarf Flesh highlighted with Elf Flesh. Easy, looks good, and your troops don't appear jaundiced (which is my biggest crit of Bronzed Flesh, sorry).
