The countdown to Cancon continues with little over 3 weeks to go!
I still haven't pulled the trigger on what to take this year yet.
Normally you get points for a win, draw or loss. This year due to time constraints we will be adopting the Newcastle Castle Assault scoring method which rewards bigger plays:
The following scoring system will be used for the tournament:
12-0 Points- Win by 5 Victory Conditions
11-1 Points- Win by 4 Victory Conditions
10-2 Points- Win by 3 Victory Conditions
9-3 Points- Win by 2 Victory Conditions
8-4 Points- Win by 1 Victory Conditions
7-5 Points- Win by Victory Points
6-6 Points- Draw
This no longer means you can go for the conservative, slight win to hit the tip tables. You really need to crush your opponent. (Sorry 16 activation Baran Siege Masters, you're too slow and too terrible for this event)
So you need a well balanced force. Able to take on the 14 activation Eldar top players (Skimmer, Triple retain bullshit and Raider..... seriously Eldar really are broken in top players hands), the 3 activation triple Warlord (Hey I'm not here to win - just ruin your day, just try and get us off the objectives and BTS), the myriad of other Warlords and great gargant mobs that will be popping up in other lists and the swarm armies as well.
And the usual defense against the air assault Emperors Children, Iyanden air assault and slightly worse than it's bretheran Space marine air assault. And at last one shooty Tau Cad
Sisters of Battle?
Well the army is looking fantastic... but the list is pretty terrible still and can definitely NOT take a lot of other armies on. So out
Knights?
With only sitting around 9-10 activation's, terrible way to shed blast markers/no good access to leader these guys are also out. Once you've played against Knight you know to just measure their assault ranges, out activate them, put a few blast markers on and set them up for clipping assaults/crossfire. So also out..
Vraksian Traitor Guard.
Tempting, I love the list but not even considering them currently as I rolled with them last year at Cancon...I just don't like to go to the same tourney with the same army twice. (plus we get these sweet coins for each army... gotta collect them all y'know)
Marines?
While it was tempting to go the Imperial Fist route, I don't think they'll be fast enough to get the big wins.... And normal marines will just not cut it against Eldar... So out
Chaos?
I have a great Red Corsair army... all in pieces though, and i have yet to try it out.... plus i went rule of cool and went a lot of Brass Scorpians, Khorne bezerkers and blood slaughterers.... and CC is always worse/less reliable than FF. Maybe next tourney, but not today...
Eldar Titans?
Well I had these in a box from a good bargain i cam across, but until some serious work is put into that list it will remain banned like Squats are from at least the biggest three of the Aussie tournaments
That leaves me with Cadians or DKOK.....
No idea on what to go for just yet. I've been writing lists for both - but none have come out and really felt right yet.
If you have some good ideas, send me a PM, would love to talk ideas haha
But Ignore my planning/whining? You're here for pictures!
So while i procrastinate I've been doing some touch ups/rebuilds of the two tables I will be bringing along to help with the 30 player tourney
Super dense city table
Getting a few fire spots of ruins/road brekages

And re-planning/building the monorail spaceport table

And working on some ships (With two more on the way)
