Quote (Chris @ 24 2003 Nov.,21:49) | Photo finish? I have full belief that Tuff can get it finished in time, he does 1 day turnarounds on Fanatic commisions, his own speed Guard _should_ be quicker!
Cheers
Chris | Expectations are rather high here...... Gulp....
Well Just to make things a little more interesting, I went out tonight & only managed a black wash on the mettallics of 1 Marauder before I went. Plus I am gardening tomorrow, so thats a further 2 days down the pan..... Did I ever mention that I like a challenge??

You mad, mad, crazy person! I am struggling to get an IG army ready for Feb .
*bows down to the might of Tuffskull* |
Lol... *bows too*
-I'm feeling pleased with myself for managing to do three or four stands of my Ulthwe Eldar a day recently- if I keep up the pace I should manage to finish all my current Eldar in time for buying loads of new minis when Epic:A comes out; I know I won't be able to resist the temptation!

Day 37, Wednesday 26th November - Day lacking a pub crawl...
Well, its been a quiet few days but I've squeezed in as much as I could today between commission work. As a bonus (from the projects perspective at least), my weekly mini-pub-crawl unfortunately got cancelled this week, but I have at least therefore had a little more time to work onthe race for the finish on the "Dessert Ferrin".
So the progress rundown: I've cleaned up, glued & fully based the 2 Heavy platoons. When completed, these will have little scratch built mortars in the center gaps like my cityguard do.
I've also done up the Commissars. I mentioned before that I've reduced their number from 12 to 6 as in the army as it stands, there simply arent that many formations I would want a commisar to join. Note that they're blue. I dont know why, I've just always for as long as I can remember painted my epic commissars blue & did these the same on "auto pilot" before I realised what I was doing! (Come to think of it, my 40K ones are brown....guess I just dont like paiting black...)
I've finally highlighted the last battery of Manticores (edit - previously read "Marauders" - sry, brain fart I guess...)
I've highlighted the first marauder's underside (roughly - it was far too rushed..) and painted all barr the white underside on the second Marauder.
I've highlighted the company markings on the Chimera company.
And the proof ? : (I'm not posting detail shots of all the units that have had minor highlighting done - I'll post a detail of EVERY unit on a website when the whole lot is completed.)

Quote (primarch @ 26 2003 Nov.,22:56) | Hi!
So are you done? Did you beat the deadline?
Primarch |
Not yet mate!
The heavies are just undercoated, thought their bases are done.
They're the only units that are really not game-useable at the moment.
For me to be happy though, I'd like to get it "really" done, which means The 2nd Marauder & 2nd lightning need their undersides highlighted with white & a plethora of company markings need to be added all over the place on all the vehicles currently still missing them. ?
Trust me, I'll be jumping about like (even more of....) a loon if I do beat the deadline - You'l know about it ?
As a side note, I'm currently considering canning the SM army planned for december. Epic is usually my "break from the norm" when commission painting in other scales. However, since I'm painting Eldar for Fanatic at the moment, it doesnt really count as that anymore.
I'm thus probably going to leave CS to the marines, and spend December working on my 15/25/28mm stuff as they're now "different" to work. Sorry if thats a dissapointment to any of you (you freaks... ), but It'll give the boards time to recover from their longest thread ever ? ready for some greenskinned work after Xmas.

I think that the 'what are you working on at the moment' thread beats this is terms of posts. But, a lot less pictures.
I look forward to the completed pictures.

Damn, forgot that one.... Guess I'll have to keep using this thread for the orks in Jan. & not start a new one after all ?
Just thought CS - I know I host all my own images, but I dont know how these boards work - I'm not drainng any bandwidth alowances with all my pics am I??
Worked today & am off out shortly, I've faffed about with sand but thats about it (I'm running very low on the sand I used for this army's bases & now I cant find a brand thats even close to a colour match! What am I going to do for scenery??? AARRRGGGHHH!!! ? )

No, that is one of the reasons for not permitting pictures being uploaded. The page simply generates a 'get request' from a different site and while it still needs to be downloaded to the viewers machine, it is completely seperate from this site.
I am sure that I speak for most when I say 'more pictures'!

The force is looking better and better Tuff, I'd love to see it in action some time once it's all painted...
Cheers

Day 40, Saturday 29th November
Well lads, hows about a game of "spot the difference", eh?
Look back a couple of posts & see the last army photo I posted.
Now look at this shot taken 10 minutes ago:

I spent the afternoon in my local GW today and the good news is that they'll be running epic demo games, and I've even got one of the staff members involved enough that he's organising a campaign in March to run on the Veterans nights. They'll also be taking some of my work in the cabinets again, so all good on the piec promoting front. The bad news was that I spent so much time promoting the new game, I got very little paiting done.
So, The differences? Frighteningly little.
Over the course of Thurs & Friday, I achieved the grand sum of painting the company markings on the Manticore company.
Today, I've started work on 1 of the 2 Fire Suport Squads.
and, um, well, thats the lot really. I have 24 Hours. Oh yay.......

24 hour countdown
We're into the final straight. Tomorrow (well, sunday, so technically today at the time of writing!) is my sister's Birthday but she's only around for the morning thankfully (from the project's perspective...).
I have two Fire suport teams to paint tomorrow. From what I've already done on one of them, the autocannon are going to slow me down, but I should manage them OK.
There's also 2 aircraft (1 Lightning & 1 marauder) which need their undersides highlighted.
When those tasks are out the way, I'll be happy & its left down to details. Mainly company Markings. However, I dont know how I'll be using some of the formations anyway, so I have a backup excuse if I dont get around to doing them on all the vehicles
I'll keep you posted on progress as I go. I was doing so well a week ago, now I'm not sure I'm going to make it . Either way, it could be a long night tomorrow night.....
