Wake up, cow!

Obviously, WIP. One wash, and gold applied to the chaos bits. I'm trying to decide how to apply the pink before the final wash... That dozer blade is crying out for more childish grafitti.

Why do the old Chaos Dreads look like Raven Battlemechs?

Nice work.

Sooo... nothin' to do, why not update the ole' painting thread?

Sleepy Cows are put out to pasture, so to speak:

Unfortunately, I couldn't really think of anything really good, so I fell back on that oh-so-similar-to-Slaanesh singer, Prince. (Is it a coincidence that his symbol is so similar to the Slaanesh one?) As a product of the '80's, I also have a soft spot for a lot of his music, so it wasn't that much of a concession.

Next up, a new acquisition: talons of foreboding for dropping onto the enemy's face:

Image

I have to figure out how I'm going to mount these - the only GW art I've seen with these is on lexicanum, and the file is small and crappy, but it seems as though the pod should rest on the tips of the (extended) claws when landed. But these models look like they're in flight mode. Oh well. Probably just some mild OCD at work there. One or two will be modified somewhat to be objective markers I think. For example, I might make a crashed pod in the middle of a crater, with dazed character lingering nearby, wondering when rescue will arrive.

Finally, I've started the noise marines, and they're coming along nicely. I'm going for a more random, more technicolor look for these guys (for obvious reasons). I based them old rose on top of the white prime, with armor plates of dark grey, purple, bright pink, along with some bright pink edging on some. I'm halfway through the metal bits; gold is next:

Image
Next they'll get a black wash like everyone else to tone them down (but not too much).
Since this is a long weekend here in the States, I should be able to get a bunch more done. I will soon answer the question, "what is a noise marine's preferred method of conveyance when a rhino APC just doesn't have the right... 'flavor'?" ;)

Nice cows, great work! I really like the color scheme.

a suggestion for the 'claws - mount some on thin rod at an angle so they look like they're just about to hit. I think that'd look really cool, plus you can do the whole glowing heatshield thing. Perhaps not for all of them, but it'd still be neat.

If you want to go seriously comical, you could always find a 6mm scale cow (railway stuff?) and put it on the base under a descending 'claw. Moo<splat>.

CaptPiett, what manufacturer did you get the Yaks from, end what did they run you? Looking into alternatives to FW for my NotLysians.

Dave suggested something similar, but I wasn't too keen on the extra work. However, as the suggestion is coming from someone other than Dave, I'll seriously consider it ;D

I think the livestock bit is pretty cool... the gears are turning... perhaps an ultramarine, subjugator, or squat would be in order as well...

Let me do some research and get back to you. I discarded the outer packaging a while ago, so I've got to do some digging. They were very reasonable. A Chinese company IIRC

If it's going to be an EA model about to get squashed, I'd go for a marine in whatever colours Dave uses (what legion is it anyway? something obscure) or a Carnifex, claws raised in surprise.

My thoughts exactly. I like the 'fex idea too.

Dave's SM army is Salamanders Subjugators, hence the thought above. None of my "supporting cast" choices are accidental: uberchris does Iron Warriors (see powerfoot above); Dwarf Supreme does Admech and Squats...
