That Kroot scheme looks perfect for Nids, nice one WmN, looking forward to seeing them.

Hmmm, a great big boozy Nid called Crowe punching his way through the universe

Ehm, just a side note for you: GZG makes some aliens (yeah, those black, aced-blooded things we all love) and starship trooper bugs in 6mm scale. Have you ever thought about using them as infantry? i'm using them as genestealers and raveners, respectively...

I'm really interested in what you do with your raveners as well.

I managed to get a bit of a tyranid horde happening luckilly.

I am intending to use flying rippers as tyragons but they are a bit fiddly to put together.

I actually used a similar scheme to what I think you are describing.  Basically I done most of it as a single set paint job.  I found by watering down the paint and mixing the ink into it it worked all right then done some highlights with snakebite leather then bleached bone.

Thanks Mark. Your army was also part of the inspiration which got me interested in the Nids. The color scheme I'm looking for is something along the lines of that on the the Forge World Malanthrope.

With a bit of Photoshop magic here's the rough idea of how I want my Dominatrix/Hydraphant to look.

very nice.... but would it be possible to get a similar result without using any OOP parts?

im almost tempted myself by this thread to try for a complete bug army without using any OOP figs, all i need is time and money :confuse:

I think it might be possible to buuild something similar using another Nid body and an 40k archive metal Ripper for the neck and head. The Norn queen would probalbly have to be sculpted from scratch.

I actually have a spare dominatrix sitting around that is missing a couple of the bitz that are supposed to go on the back which you have photo-shopped off anyway which I could trade.

Somehow that dominatrix looks familiar  ???

hey warmaster , what are you planning on using as trigons ? i was looking into doing some of this myself as i just picked up a bunch of nid inf. off e-bay. and i was thinking of just using 40k raveners with minor converting, are they too big ?

I've been looking some more at the 40k Ravener and I gotta admit that it would make a briliant trygon. Problem is that it is the size of a Revenant titan and considerably bulkier! Does anyone have a comparison shot of the FW Trygon next to a FW Revenant titan? The Trygon looks big but not that big.

Warmaster, are you interested in the original Trygons?

The Trygon is nowhere near big enough to be the size of a Revenant Titan.

A FW trygon (reared up) is about the height of two dreadnoughts, maybe less.

A 40k Ravener is larger than a Revenant Titan.

Hmmm... Well I guess I'm back at the original idea of re-working a Gaunt then. :(
I'm thinking maybe a gaunt body with a FW Ripper head and a snake end sculpted from Green Stuff. Hopefully it will work cause to be honest I just can't stand the original Epic Tyranid sculpts! :D

what about using a gaunt body on top of the necromunda millasaur or even a classic ripper body?

this would be roughly the right size i belive...
