I like to use dark blues with the grey in my urban camo patterns.  For infantry of this size, I'd go with the lighter grey as the base color then paint things that stick out, like shoulder/knee pads and such, in the darker color.

While it sort of breaks the "effective camoflage" concept, I think the stand desperately needs a little bit of contrast between the figures and the base.

I also agree the guy with the most green is the one that looks most effective.

Just me.

I suppose with the idea of camoflage you are not just wanting the colour to blend in with the surrounding but also to break up the shape of the object being cammed. at 6mm this seems a little ott because you could lose a lot of definition on the models.  However, by addin elements of different colours to the grey you could achieve this idea f breaking a shape up whilst maintaining sculpt definition.  Also remember that not all urban areas are grey! west german cam used to include grey and red becuase of the colour of the bricks used in a lot of cities.  likewise if an urban area had used sandstone you could throw in yellow or pink elements.  again it could be winter urban cam and you could then use light blue, ight green and white to break things up.

perhaps something to try might be undercoating the minis white, add a wash of the colour your urban terrain is (blue, green, red, yellow...) then drybrush up with grey?

my thoughts anyway...

Also smaller the scale, more contrast is needed to achieve same results as models in larger scale.

So darker other colour and lighter another, then you can see camo effect better.

But they look very good already!! keep going..

Yes, to blend and break up is the function of camo ... And I believe your points are correct about painting 6mm Grunts.  And as we see in the units in Germany, Urban Camo is more than just Grey/Black/White ... but Brown/Brick Red/Tan, etc. ... However, at 6mm, I think after a base coat of Dark Gray or Black ... Small Dots, like the German "Flecken Farbe" camo, that the German Army used, should work and be easy to do.   Followed by a little wash of gray or black.  But again, what you have there looks very good ! :D

I'd suggets to use brown shade that doesn't take too much effect. ( I have used graveyard earth, because it's very neutral colour and adds appearance of my models)
6mm minis are easy to lose if basing is too strong.
