Lovely detailing!

But could you tell us more about how you painted those ruins? The scorch marks are excellent, you've got to teach us how you placed and implemented them!

Thanks, carlisimo. I'm afraid any beauty in the ruins is strictly from detail that Games Workshop put into the casting, and not so much from my brush. Those are the plastic ruins that came in my Epic 40K box back in 1997. All I did was to prime them black and then dry brush them with Space Wolf Gray. My only "technique" is to make sure I've really, really wiped the visible paint of off the dry brush, and to give a lot more attention to some areas than to others, with the most and most consistent attention near the base of the walls.

I always thought those were good terrain casts. They have lots of surface detail and pock marks that pop out strongly with a little dry brushing and really add visual flair to the table.

Hmmm..... could I possibly replace the missile launcher on a Hunter by a man with a caber? Something to ponder. ;)

And now, Life has finally let me get back to it. Time for the Blood Claws.

"Maniac MacGee" is a Grey Hunter who leads the first pack of blood claws. He should have made his way into the ranks of the Long Fangs long ago.... but the Wolf Lord doesn't veiw him as quite "reliable" enough yet. Still, he has proven to be quite useful in the ranks of the Blood Claws where his erratic behavior makes him fit in but he can still bring a bit of balance to their aggressive nature.

He takes his role as a "senior Blood Claw" seriously, and so he uses a Lightening Claw as his primary weapon. In his other hand is his sgian dubh, an ancestral weapon passed down for generations from father to son.

Or, at least that's what he tells the civiliian tourists who come to witness the Wolve's victory parades. In truth he lost his sgian dubh to a Dark Angel who had a better hand at poker, and the weapon he carries is a "sword" he stole from a dead Gretchin. But don't tell him you know that; he doesn't take it well.

Wolf Brother Blayne is a more down-to-earth senior Grey Hunter whose unusual calm is very beneficial to his Blood Claw Pack. A quiet man who keeps mostly to himself, he was once considered for Scout duty. But the Wolf Lord saw his potential for leadership and chose a different role for him. Few doubt that he will soon join the Wolf Guard.

In keeping with his calm, paitent manner, Blayne uses a power fist in close combat. He is more than willing to let his opponent strike the first blow if it means he can end the combat with a single hit.

Why carry one axe, when you can carry two?

Wolf Brother Hamish takes this question quite seriously, and he has yet to find a sensible answer. This attitude won him command of my third pack of blood Claws.

Hamish can't remember the last time he carried a bolter, nor can he count the number of enemy heads he's taken for his Wolf Lord.

And here are all my Blood Claws, unless one of the sergeants decides to move over for a Chaplain. (Which of course he inevitably will.)

Wolf Brother Tavish, in the second row with the axe, didn't get his own photo because no one talks about Brother Tavish.

Ever.

(He quite likes it that way.)

Sorry for the blur in the first row; I can't get all of these guys into focus to save my life.

Works in progress. Here are some onsie-twosie bits I'm slowly working on whenever painting the larger formations becomes a bit tedious: A couple of terminator stands (for the Great Company), a supreme commander, and a scratchbuilt Crusader.

The Crusader has been fun, and involves a landraider, an Ork Skorcha, a Razorback, some turrets from Shapeways, plastic rods, and greenstuff press-molds of half a whirlwind launcher. I've got some plasticard too, whidh I'll try to use for the guards on the front of the treads.

The terminators were converted with bits from Sentinels, Beastmen, and Khorne Berzerkers. I also added some Celtic markings to make them more in theme.
