Brilliant. Love the transition from red to yellow on the right-most kan. Lots of patience required to do that, and really old-school.

Super cool! Hope to see more Oldskool goodness soon: I'll be eBaying a bunch of orks including a load of SM1 era stuff soon if you're in need :-)

Cheers to everyone for the nice words

I've been bumming around the site all week (quiet week at work ;) ) and there is some amazing stuff out there, so its been fun looking at all the shinies.

I missed the demise of otterman, so all up to speed with that (3D printing was just within our reach when i disappeared last time) and its cool to see what everyone has been doing with the tech. Hopefully one day we will all get to play with the toys we want to, hooray for Chapterhouse in their part in that ;)

So, in the meanwhile I figured I should show you my next piece, an Evil Sunz warbuggy.
I wanted this guy to be as close to the 2nd ed warbuggy that the Eavy Metal team painted, down to the freehand. Still need to work on that, but I was getting pretty tired when I started painting the skull up front :(

I also wanted to show you guys where this all was left five years ago! I was planning on doing the army up as a Deathskullz force, and started a few different detachments, but I think these might get re-painted in due course.

Yep, the Deffskulls are good but you're really upping the game with those EvilSunz!

I've learned a hell of a lot in the last few years about painting. So there is hopefully a jump up in quality.

Plus the red tends to be a bit more striking.

that's been precisely my experience too! each army has been better than the last, which if you're not careful leads to an endless cycle (although the only conclusion is that you eventually become infinitely good which is a nice side-effect ;) )

I find getting good pics of red almost impossible without quite an elaborate photography setup, kudos!

Where I started to enter competition, plus needing better shots for my commission stuff, I ended up investing about £100 in light kit. I've got a light cube from kalumet (£40) and an eBay light kit with two proper lights, with diffuser sheets (£50 ish) then sine backdrops from hanger18

It worked out for the best as the step up in shots was huge. No more crappy shadows and relying on the sun.

I only use a standard point and click digi cam (got a dslr but honestly it's too much hassle to set up) so I just point and click, and do simple post processing in Photoshop.

It's all been learned as I go along tbh, read a few tutorials, mess about with camera settings and you are good I guess.

Always good to see da Orks being represented ... and yours are some of the best I've seen. The detail level on the Dreadnought and Kans is frankly jaw-dropping. I know just how fiddly those things are!

Very inspiring, keep painting and posting please.
