Here is a short story related to this project.
Once upon a time, specifically yesterday, Vanvlak heard a tinkling noise of sparkling, fresh, flowing water coming from his roof. The water tank float valve had died out, and I had to replace the

thing.
So Vanvlak spent half of today in the blazing hot August sun in Malta trying to remove the old valve (well jammed, had to saw it in two to get it off) and then fitting a replacement.
Here's said water tank:

Note the pale red ball at lower right - that's the float of the offending valve. Instead of cursing it I saw it rise on steel girders as a water tank for my Monster Island table. Happy, in spite of the heat and sun, I got my camera to take a pic of the tank and the valve to entertain those nice people at Tactical Wargames.
Vanvlak now had to climb down the ladder bearing tools, a camera and the red ball, and not wanting to drop the camera - or himself, Vanvlak threw the plastic ball down, figuring that the plastic construction would not be harmed by the low drop. The blasted thing fractured into pieces, darned plastic degradation.
The moral of this tale is to never throw your balls off ladders.
To make up for the disappointment, a view of the local skyline and the August sky:

And of the local kaiju terrorising the island - or at least the insect life on our roof. She's (she is a she, the males only grow to 6mm) is the inspiration behind my choice of kaiju as described above.

The end.
P.S. She's a banded agriope spider. I think.
