err... a what? :oo

Thanks for biting! I don't know exactly what it is yet, but it's a good name, so I'll build something around it.... :blues: I've been thinking of an Ecclesiarchy presence on the field, and as I'm no good at converting troops, I'm thinking up a new BIG vehicle.

Was hopping to submit a photo of the mass of green skins I painted 8+ years ago that I have never shown before. Problem was that they're all neatly displayed in my cabinet, so was not keen on shifting them.

Was also tempted to submit my recently painted Chaos, but all on my web site, so didn't know if they broke the rules.

Other than that, I submitted everything I wanted. Would have liked to submit my Eldar, but I haven't worked on them enough yet... seer council was one of many conversions I've been planning  :D Once my Chaos force is complete, I think I'll start on them again.... or my recently aquired Tau...

I had trouble with the camera (yeah right... did bother picking up a brush more like!)

Here's a sample of the IG force I'm working on.

Vanvlak - that sounds excellent and I really hope you get that off the ground.  Cool name too!

I got myself a devotional bell for exactly the same thing - except it was going to be a portable altar type thing with some priests around it which would be added to the Regimental HQ Company.

Well, I didnt get ANYTHING finished at all, for obvious reasons.  If I'd used the minimal time I had at home painting, I reckon I would now in an empty house! :D

Anyhow, my unfinished submission is a Word Bearers Battleforce and its attendant Titans from the Death's Head Legio and some corrupted Ordinatus.

One day...

This is a testiment to exactly how slow I work: in the entire run of the competition, I managed to decide on a mini, find a single Marine dread, assemble it, undercoat it and... thats about it! No wonder it takes me so long to paint a decent force!  :L

a Prometheus Land Raider

yeah i have one of these made but not painted for the Deathwing how did you go about yours?

It's very much unfinished, but I started from the old plastic Land Raider by widening the tracks to cover the outer hull. I should have done that with Green Stuff but, as usual, I went the hard way and used plasticard. Then I sculpted fenders from Green Stuff.

That's how far I've got. The new wide tracks look really massive and I'm pleased with the result. But now I'm stuck on the Heavy Bolter racks. I'll probably use small strips of 1mm plasticard and then build the sponson itself from 0.5mm plasticard.

Oh, and if you have one finished already... WHERE ARE THE PICS?? Not posting pics is a treason, citizen. Not having a digicam is not an excuse as R&D has a fusion powered multi-spectrum prototype ready for field testing.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I've been reading Paranoia XP from Mongoose the whole weekend and it's simply superb!  :;):

My ambitious plans:

-Single Unit:
Squad of custom sculpted and resin-cast genestealers.

-Open:
Deathwatch Space Marine (based on the Artemis model from Inquisitor) fighting off one of said 'Stealers with his sword while running past it and firing his bolter.

On the side, possibly another "open" piece: Eldar Ranger loosely based on the Inquisitor one.

Got to work on them (and some other projects, none of which got finished - maybe I should just focus on one at a time...)
in September, during summer's break from University, working on and off due to having had some work to do for my studies, meeting old friends again, getting back into physical shape, cleaning up a fair part of the house etc.
Unfortunately, I didn't really stick to one thing at a time but did one weapon here, one leg there, ...well you see where I'm going.
Still, I think I could have made it (finished at least one or two of the above mentioned pieces) if the holidays had been just 2 weeks longer.
But when University kicked back in I had to give up. It's not like I had absolutely no time left at all, but what I had was generally just a hour or so in the evening and I don't like breaking out my modelling stuff unless I have at least 3 or 4 hours at a time.
So this is how far I got:

Genestealers:
Sculpted: Body, arms and legs in various stages of completion.
No head, no base.
Nothing cast, nothing painted.

Marine:
Sculpted:
Torso mostly finished, sword mostly finished, bolter very much done, as are the legs .
Basic shapes of arms and backpack. No head. No base.
Nothing cast, nothing painted.

Eldar:
Sculpted:
Basic body (legs+torso) 70 % finished, mostly the outer robes and some detail missing. Swordarm close to done. Rifle armature finished. That's it, no head, no base, no left arm.
Obviously nothing cast or painted here, either.

My other projects included a Tau water caste + drone
(<50 % :-(), several custom made imperial soldiers (I think I pretty much finished the *armatures* and got to work on the rifles :-(() and a new style Terminator (don't mention it :-(((. Did the head, found it too big, did some armatures, that's it.)

So, despite having had two and a half months at a time where I could have spent roughly *half* of my time sculpting I didn't finish one single thing.

Lesson to learn from this? => Do *one* thing at a time, focus on it and *finish* it.

So maybe for next years competition...

I didn't finish my long-term projects detailed on my personal thread including Necrons, Jopalli IG, Crimson Fists SMs, a Mars Forgeworld terrain board, an agriworld terrain board and Tyranids.

My new job and the changes associated with it took too much of my time and attention.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

So what it sopunds like is we all could get more done for the comp if we;

a) Focus on one entry until it is done.

and

b) Be realisitic in how much time we have.

Sounds like a whole bunch of great ideas, now if we each pick one and work to get it done for next year, it could be an even better group!

I had a number of pieces (including terrain) that I have done over the years. But never got around to having my buddy take pics of them. I was preoccupied with a number of matters ... :(  Maybe next year ... :)

So what did people not get finished for the comp?
=====================================

Since I just got back on the boards right after the deadline... all of it. :D

But seriously, I have this idea for a diorama of a titan duel.  I'll probably never do it, so here it is if someone wants to try it:

An Eldar and an Imperial titan in hand to hand.  The Eldar titan has leaped onto the imperial titan.  It is gripping/tearing the carapace with a powerfist while its feet are planted on the imperial titan's torso.  With its long legs, I have a mental image of a pose like Jack Skellington from Nightmare Before Christmas crouching with knees stuck out looking all gangly.

The imperial titan would be leaning backwards on the verge of tipping, but grabbing the Eldar titan's leg with its own powerfist.

Incidentally, it would also work for 40K scale dreadnoughts and GW runs their duel category in their painting competitions.  I was thinking a title like "When the Dead Go to War" for that concept.

Neal, that sounds like it could be a lot of work. Corse, done by the right hands it would look cool too. :D
