I attempt to keep the girls as far away from the minis as possible, at least untill they are old enough not to destroy them intentionally. Most of the time, I am sucessful, especially since I moved my construction zone to the garage, which is off-limits to them...for now

Guys, here is a thought, D&D Minatures.
$10 USD buys you eight plastic, pre-painted figures. Hard to break, easy to hold (28mm), and best of all, no worry if they fall, are dropped, or are steped on.
Kid can set up some of "daddy's men" while daddy is working on the "other men".
A cheap alternative to broken epic stuff. ?

P.S.: The latest version has a Unicorn that looks a lot like a "My Little Pony" and would be great for girls. However, my little girl also thought the Goblins were "cute".

But you see guys, the little ones are going against me, the evil one with experiance. My evil masks my fear.
The "daddy toys" approved for their use are not talked about that way. She can not touch any of them unless I am "home and doing stuff with them". Further, the box the "child oked toys" are in changes from time to time. Lastly, the contents of the "Child Box" changes as well. Sometimes they are D7D minis, sometimes left over ork warp towers and Plastic Rhinos (I have way too many).
Yes it is work, but so far, I have stayed one step ahead of her. 
Just remember, Evil against Evil is much more fun.
