The flakwagon looks scary! Would fit well in a Blood Axe army.

Hi all,
Thanks for replies guys, I've always had a thing for Orks in all GW games and I think it is the "konvershun" loving nature that appeals to me (especially when it's plastic and easy to do).
Also, after taking a look through the massive piles of old Epic plastics I have, I may indulge myself in painting up an extra thousand points of old Rhinos, etc as a Blood Axe component to this ork army, then the flakwagons can be reintroduced (and my Stormboyz! They've been useless so far, so I dropped them from this current army list). That'll give me an opportunity for a bitz box raid too, and give some of my old models a purpose again. Although I think that idea will have to be added to the end of the lengthening list of things I have to paint!
@ Warmaster Nice: (Un)fortunately when I ordered a big batch of FW gunwagons, a large number of them were of such poor quality casting and had broken parts, that sacrificing them didn't seem a problem (they did send me an extra pack of them though ? ) The rest went into the current ork force and became test pieces for colour schemes.

Update - 6/4/04
After staring at some unbased Orks for weeks, with no motivation to glue and sand them, I finally did yesterday whilst watching some DVDs.
Big Ork Warband
And the first unit from my secret(ish) project is finally made and painted. Although I'm not 100% happy with the flame paintjob, I present...
Burna Boyz
With most of the remaining units for both my Ork and Imperial Fists armies pretty much finished, I'm just awaiting my order of Warmaster Bases and I should have two 2700 point armies ready for battle.

Bit off topic this, but whilst looking around some military history websites for inspiration, I came across these. Possibly the most Orky ideas I've ever seen. Enjoy!
Early Warbike?
Fighta-Bomma
um...er...I give up.
Other than that, my latest supplies have arrived, so I will be basing up the rest of my vehicles shortly. I've also started to paint some Ork dreads and Fighta-Bommas, so I should have some nice pics of them soon.

Being a closet historian, I've seen these pics before ... G/W-F/W routinely "takes" ideas from historical sources ... mostly WWII German. Look up "Kettenkrad" ... the original Warbike ! Plus there are many IG-Nazi interfaces ...

Woohoo! Won eleven sprues full of Epic 40k era Orks on Ebay yesterday that (if the buggers turn up) will give me eleven more stompas, 33 bikes, 33 boars and a whole load of other orky stuff to fill out my army and to use for conversions, etc. (?26 - I think I got a good deal )
On the painting front I have finished this week... 3 Stompas, 2 Dreads, 2 Kans, 3 Gunwagons, 3 Warbuggies, 2 Skorchas, 3 Fighta Bommas and the last of the Imperial Fist Rhinos. This only leaves a handful of metal sat unpainted on my shelf, but every time I look at it, I'm really not motivated to paint it. (Need inspiration!) I'll try to get some pics up within the next few days when the last of the KOS buggies are painted.
I've also decided to paint all the leftover space marine minis I have as Crimson Fists to produce a small army to suppliment my Imp. Fists too (I'm getting sick of painting yellow again), which should hopefully save me gathering a heap of useless minis.
PS: Anyone have any thoughts on what I could use two Mk1 Thunderhawks for? (they're the small SM2 era ones) I thought possibly command/recon units, but would like your thoughts.
PPS: Could anyone direct me to which issue of WD contains the Index Astartes section about the Imp. Fists? (or if anyone has the power, scan it and email it to me. )
Cheers

Imperial Fists are in WD259.
As for the "Flying Brick" pattern Tuhderhawks, with little konvershun these would be very Orky vehicles; just add wheels! Or tracks.
