Mojarn,
When I was in the service, KP meant this:
KP = Kitchen patrol.
It pretty much meant that you were on a punishment detail and had to wash dishes, mop chow hall floors, and peel potatoes like you mentioned. It's no fun cleaning and/or cooking in industiral sized proportions (soup pots that are a foot in diameter and about two feet tall for example!).

Maksim is correct, no potato peeling by hand, but the Mess SGT always has something that needs to be done in the field or in garrison ... Routinely Company 1st SGTs always found "volunteers" ! ?

When I painted my original IG I was in an "experimenting" phase. NOTHING good came of that phase and thank the gods it was shortlived.
