Notice at the bottom there is a note that FW says AI will not be developed further, but the existing range will remain...

yes, saw that.

Actually, I never was very fond of the dark eldars, but I like this new incarnation much better. And I agree, the sails are nice.

I think the new DE look great - so much better than their original incarnations.

Bummer. Although it is nice to hear that the existing models remain available...for now.

Sad news indeed
I hope I'll have enough time to complete all my planned fleets.

I wonder if the success/failure (however it is perceived) will affect FW's plans for an epic-scale titan game.

I'm pretty sure the titan game idea has been scrapped.

Not a huge shock on the AI front; they've not released anything new for about a year, and the game was a bit of a flop. They probably got just as many sales from epic players as AI ones.

Of course it was something of a flop. An $80 rulebook for a start up game is extreme, especially when FWs reputation for rules is not great and the majority of their market is likely to be looking for a beer-n-pretzels kind of game.

I could have had that rulebook done for $40 US. ;) It's a shame though - the game looks interesting. I just don't have the cash to start it up.

When we put out our 'Evil Space Elves' you can expect the Raiders and Ravagers to look like the classic models.

The problem is people dismissed a FW set of rules from the start. From what I read is that AI is a really good ruleset. The price is, ofcourse, abysmal.

FW created better rules for their BFG Tau fleet then the BFG rules committee did for the FW Tau fleet.

Back to DE:
they look more Chaos then Eldar.

Naw, I only saw one skull in the whole lot.

I do agree that the incubi seem more chaosy with those horns, which I think look ridiculous, but the warriors and the witches look awesome, even without having to compare them to the original models from 1998.

I don't think those look all that chaotic (in the 40k sense of the term), and they clearly use the same armor plate pattern that the craftworlds have.

All sorts of useful info got posted today on GW's daily blog.

Too bad they can't just email us the 3D files.

The Sails might actually be useful starting points for BFG DE ships, Semaj...

Sails: I like the simple arc sail. The arc follows a nice, sweeping Eldar-ish line from the prow to the tip of the sale.

The one with the 2 panels/3 spars is off. It's too "square" and clashes with the otherwise fluid lines of the vehicle. They should have made the middle spar extend the line of the prow. Or something.
