I e-mailed Jervis, a while ago, and asked if they would release the E-A models as they become available, instead of waiting for the game's/rule book's release. ?But he diplomatically said " NO " ... :( Oh well, Forge World will continue to release models, and it appears rather frequently :D !!! ?Even if they are not the ones we really want ... ???

I've always been under the impression that Forge World only produces epic minis when a sculpter does it in their own free time. For examole, the Tau where done in peoples lunch times because they wanted to scuplt them, not because they were on the FW production schedule.

Hopefully when Epic:A is released FW will start to produce more varients.

That's always my favorite "rant" :O about F/W !!! ?They just produce Epic in a random & capricious manner. Their Tau release was their best organized effort and the rumor was that they were not going to release those until after E-A ? :l ?!!! ?It appears to me this is all artist driven, regardless of what army needs what models. But I've said this a few times before, and in the end I buy them anyway :{ ?, I'm such a fool  !!!

I agree that it would be very nice for us to see some pictures of the new epic models..... perhaps just a few; we don't want to spoil the surprise :;): .. but I'm sure we'll be seing some as the release gets closer. Just gotta hope so anyway. :)

Hi!

Well, my views are usally an echo of signius's views. We are a vanishingly small minority and sales wise we offer virtually no incentive to GW.

Lets be honest if it wasn't for Jerivs personal stake and effort in epic, there wouldn't even be a new epic game, much less minis.

So whole we may howl, moan and generally bark at the moon, they aren't going out of their way for us to show us anything, before they are good and ready.

In GW's defense (and that exhausts my quota for pro-GW statements for this decade), they dont have much to gain by doing this and usually all they get for their efforts is a lot of complaining and ranting from those who either dont like the new models or those who think there are too many of army "a' and not enough army "b" units.

So, I think we should be patient and see what they do.....

....then critize the hell out of them at one go }:)

Yep. It's all about trades and e-bay at this point. Because, we still have a long, long, long way to go before we see the minis get a variety of peices. That is if the game takes off atl all. If they decide to pull the plug in six month or a year then we are just screwed.

Hi!

If they decide to pull the plug in six month or a year then we are just screwed.

Now THAT is a frightening possibility. Last time it happened, it really created a problem of accessibility for epic gamers. My usual doom and gloom sentiments aside, I worry about this. It doesn't matter what version you play, EVERYONE needs minis. NO minis is bad, bad, bad. :{

I just hope it makes enough sales to crawl out of last place, perhaps that shall suffice.

Well, it is up to the marketing people to make non-epic players feel like numbskulls for not playing epic. If we want the thing to survive then, we need to do our part as well. Word of mouth is still the best marketing you can get outside of bribery or extortion.  :p

Well, I have to agree with many of you, Epic is still alive, because it is J.J.'s baby. ?A year or two after E-A & all it's supplements, models, etc., have been released then we will really know if it even was a minor tactical success (or a Major Victory !). ?After that maybe we'll have to rely on Forge World to produce an Epic model now and then. ?Hopefully, Necrons, Demurig (?), etc., have been released by then. ??? ?Admittedly, from a business stand point, it's all about $$$. ?The fewer people that buy Epic, the less $ it makes, obviously :L ... By that time Tony C. from F/W will have produced the 12th version of every Guard vehicle ever made :o ?!! ? Of course there's always models from GZG, OGRE, etc., etc., !!!

I think that this could bee seen as Epics last chance. if E:A fails then J.J will proberly be denied the chance to make a new version and Epic will be scrubbed from GW completly.
Of course it will still be played by fans but no new fans=death for any game no matter how popular.

Hopefully though, the new game will sell well and FW will provide excellent support complamenting the range brought out by Fanatic.

With or without G/W & F/W, we're sticking with Epic.  Unfortunately "the last round-up" for Epic, may be a plausible outcome.  But we will have to wait and see ...  :L

Hi!

I'm inclined to aggree with blacksnotling, this "may" be epics last chance, but I also think Fanatic/GW need to make a desicion on what "success" means in terms of the new game. If, as they have done in past, they place the bar for success similar to selling as much as they do for 40k and warhammer, than they can just forget it, it wont happen. They wont even reach the point in sales as in epics heyday under SM/TL. If however they place the goal around selling as much as, lets say, blood bowl or BFG, that would be more realistic and IMO successful.

On the other, would it REALLY be the end if Epic A tanks? I used to think so, but recently I'm not so sure. This is due to the fact that I think we could keep it alive if Fanatic/GW could be convinced that the way to make money with epic is to produce minis INDEPENDENT of rules. That has several benefits:

1. It would end the "versions" war. Everyone needs minis, GW/Fanatic can just produce them and let fans of different editions come up with stuff which brings me to...

2. An epic magazine that caters too all versions, could easily fill pages , upon pages of fan generated material. In addition, when a new mini comes out they can feature it in the mag and place stats for it accross several versions and then ask for input. That alone can fill volumes.

3. Gw's/Fanatics resources can be better allocated to make minis, designing producing new versions takes alot of time and resources.

Perhaps it would be a good idea perhaps not, but most of my mental energies lately have pondered on this topic.

What do you guys think?
