Seems unlikely. As I understand it the unit profit on metal models is quite a bit less than on plastics.

At least some of the stuff was removed so that it could be re-done (and new plastic designs weren't an option under SG's budget even in the days when it had one). Presumably if they were taking some stuff off anyway they figured they might as well make a dedicated core troops set out of the plastics and release all the extra stuff separately.

I bought the Imperial Guard metal characters pack for conversions and terrain. It's a nice blister pack.

The only thing I wish were on the new sprues was the plastic autocannon guy. Fire support teams is cool, but if I'm not mistaken the rules for guard assume that there is an autocannon in every unit right?

If/when I ever do a guard army I'm going to have to try and track down some of those models.

In an Infantry Company every other unit has an Autocannon, but alot of other units have them, such as Supreme Commanders.

I plan on buying several blisters of metal Autocannons and spreading them out throughout my infantry to have the required number of Autocannon in the force.

You'll be in for a lot of cutting then. That blister comes with with single part models that have 2 autocannons and 1 missile launcher team on them.

i use mixed stands i'll take some better photos so you can see the heavy weapons guys better

the heavy gunner is top its looks tike a heavy bolter almost

DRM is nice and all, but I really do fancy those old plastic hvy weapon Guard troops. I'm not sure how rare they are, but I won't do a Guard army without them. (Love that greatcoat infantry!)

New metal fire support teams == teh sux

It seems that they indeed are teh suxxors. With a bit of luck the Imperial Guard infantry that I have coming from eBay will have some plastic Autocannon or other weapons in them that I can use in my units.
