Nice work.

Good to see some snow based epic.  Haven't seen many for a while.

It is finally time for an update. Here we go then, 1st squadron from my Tank company. I did a minor conversion to the second tank, it had an open turret, which I stuffed to normal, and added a hatch from plasticard. No other conversions on this squadron.  The camouflage is mostly white, with few light grey areas. I chose the simple German three-number system for my Russes. The first number indicates the company, the second the platoon, and the third is the individual tank's number. Simple Google search tells you more. And now the pictures.

On this last picture you can see word Dalo on the backside of the turret, this is my regiments/planet's name. On that toolbox below, I have written XXVI, since this is Dalo 26th regiment. Simple.

Are, I see you schwartz is as big as mine...

...But can you wield it?

Nice job on the models and the snow.  How did you do the snow effect for the basing?  I'm not familiar with putty-snow.  Is it just putty painted white?

Yes,that is simply greenstuff that I painted white. I also considered the baking soda trick, but that would not look realistic on this scale.

Indeed, with a single glance I can tell where that tank belongs to. After a few years, when I have three companies of tanks and loads of other nasty stuff, the German system really shows it's claws with organization.

In addition to barrel wear, I have also done some burns to the exhausts and rusted the tracks. It is a shame that those details can't be seen so well from the pictures.

Thank for the comments, more updates will follow when I have enough time for painting.

And once more it is time for an update. Three more Russes bolster my regiment, and I'm really enjoying painting stuff is this scale. Now that I have seen the DRM commanders, I can barely wait to get them, they shall command my troops. And what comes to Commissars, why should not I try to convert them from something else? Everything the orks have in 40k can be converted from the same Boyz that make up the horde. So I assume that it would be possible to do the same in Epic IG. Time will show. But here you go, three new Leman Russes.

No conversions in these three, sorry.

Next time it will be infantry.

Yes, great looking Russkies ... I mean IG !  :D  And the white looks right, just like it was white washed over the standard color.  The DRM Cdr figs look great !  I'll certainly be getting those, too.  I used the E:A Character packs for most of my IG Cmd stands, and the same for the E:A SMs & Orkses. :alien:  IIRC, I saw E/W is doing Cmd figs too. Both DRM & E/W are perfect additions to G/W-FW Epic.  I collect all of them. :)

Sorry, no update yet, but I have assembled some infantry to be painted. I have been thinking alternative Sentinels, and the other one of those would be good. However for some reason I don't like the heavier one of those aerosans. Perhaps it just doesn't scream light scouting vehicle loud enough. So maybe I should use the lighter aerosan as an inspiration, and build my own version. As Sentinels are chosen in squadrons of four, that wouldn't be too hard task to accomplish.

I have also chopped up some DRM infantry, and been thinking how to build a Commissar oout f them and greenstuff. In the extreme case, a simple cone of greenstuff, resembling a long coat, attached to DRM Light infantry sergeant's upper half could be a Commissar. But first I try some more complex ideas.

However, where should I place my Commissars? If I have read the rules correctly, the only limitations are that the first goes to the  Supreme commander, and only one per formation. Many times I have seen Commissars been attached to infantry company's Commader stand, but I understand that they can be placed to any unit in the formation. Correct? What would be the best place to add them in an infantry company? On Commander's stand, they boost the CC capability a little, but when the Commander dies, the Commissar's effects are lost. Placing them to a normal infantry squad would probably be stupid, since a fire support squad would benefit more from fearlessness, because of the two Autocannons. Then what about ogryns? They are already good in CC, why give them another MW attack? What would they benefit from fearlessness, since blast markers won't prevent them from wrecking stuff in CC. Or am I totally wrong with that? Perhaps the best place for a Commissar in an infantry company would be some support tank squadron? Fearless tank gets to shoot every turn, and that would give the Commissar some survivability. What do you think?
