Just thought I'd check...

20p per figure, so a base of 5 would be ?1? Or 20p for the base?

I think I know the answer, but best to be sure :)

A base of 5 figures would be ?1

Basing costs would depend. Foc if you supply the base.

Hi, it depends of the cost and the mini, but I don't have any problem to pay to paint my minis.
I never done it but I maybe will do in the future...

cheers

I would hazard a guess that most Epic infantry schemes are probably a bit easier to paint than Napoleonics.

What is your vehicle charge?

I voted yes I would use a service.  I regually do for my WHFB models and 40k ones.  Infact all my WHFB models are painted to commission or purchased painted off eBay.

All future Epic models apart from OoP or extremely rare ones, will be purchased painted, as I have far, far to many boxes of unpainted models sat around..

I voted no. Painting is about the only part of the hobby that I can do in my own time, on my own schedule. I can see the attraction of getting someone to paint for me, but I would rather put the money to new minis to practise on.

Tuffskull on these boards is also a commision painter, specialising in 6mm and gets a fair amount of Epic work - although I think that he needed to be flexible and would also do many other scales and genres.

Any pictures of your painting work available?

Yes, up to now I've done my own stuff, but now too busy and payed for painted figures for the first time a couple of weeks ago.  I know some friends who would consider it too, though we are in New Zealand on the opposite side of the world and more likely to use local painters because of postage costs.

Nice work though and good luck with it.

I voted no, because
1. painting is so much fun (as mentioned before :) )
2.It has to be better quality I could achieve.
3.Cost issues depending on part 2.

lol!

I charge up to 10 times that depending on the quality required! (That is, however, for quality matching that of my Golden Demon Winning Epic Logan)
?1 a strip makes me glad I'm getting out of the game, as I could never afford to compete with that, even if my standards are higher (no offence intended - your stuff is very nice!).

In defence of Angel Barracks:
You have to think about the time involved & the time involved in non-earning work too. There's a lot of admin, quotes that never turn into jobs, promo & email time which you dont get paid for, not to mention research. I use to reckon 30% of my time was essential work, that didn't earn me any money.

Then what wage you expect people to be earning. If ?1 a strip was being earnt in the UK, by a full time painter like I have been, you'd be looking at 10 strips an hour, pretty much a miniature a minute. Thats an impressive rate!

Having said all that, I am no longer taking regular commissions, and its nice to see another painting service who specialise in 6mm work & at what I think is a very reasonable price for basic gaming standard.

Good luck breaking into the epic / sci fi scene as well. I'll still be selling Pre-painted DRM armies over the coming months, so here's a shake of the hands in case we end up "in competition" ?:;): ?:p

Hehe. I was about to say the same thing. ?1 is definitely a very competative price IMO. :;):

The painting I do isn't supposed to make me a living. Merely a minor supplement to my regular income. However I still need to calculate overall time spent, materials used (Paint and brushes wear out over time too) and taxes before I set a price.

I voted 'other.'  In the future I plan on opening a shop and will commission some poor soul to paint the store demo armies.  My personal stuff will be painted by myself, or at least in various stages thereof.
