Immense. Brutal. Unstoppable.
All are words universally used to describe the use of Imperial Super Heavy Tanks in war. As the diversion attack in the southern marshes made contact with the enemy, the core of the 965th amoured strike force began it's relentless advance to break the siege of the capital by the largest concentration of super heavy tanks the crusade had seen yet. Lead by the infamous 67th Assault Company, the 3 venerable Baneblades formed the spear point to crack the defenses surrounding the city. Captained by Commissar Hovsted, his notoriously aggressive close range tactics were judged to be the perfect foil to the defenses that had eluded capture. Typical of Commissariat Armour in the Merkava regiments, Hovsted was to be found commanding from the turret, battle hymns of the God-Emperor sounding from specially outfitted projectors, and most famous of the battle, his command to force to "Charge them! I want to kill them with my sword!".

Tactical note: Baneblades are typically seen with lascannons in the secondary support turrets. Here the command tank has been specially outfitted with heavy flamers due to the anticipated close range assaults that were expected. The purifying flames of the burning promethium able to clear the rubble of the enemy hiding in them.

Prior to the battle, numerous pathfinder teams infiltrated the city to locate and identify defenses and to neutralize any enemy positions to protect the armored advance the next day. Here two pathfinder scouts are seen working in close coordination with the armored force, identifying threats and disabling anti-armor traps in the ruins.

The numerous anti-tank defenses used by the foul heretics to direct and disrupt Imperial armor and infantry attacks proved to be of little consequence to the Super Heavy Tanks, their immense size used to flatten them and clear a path for the Leman Russ and companies following each while infantry fanned out to protect the flanks.
