Thats superb stuff

I got my Silfor grass tufts in this week. These are the early autumn, two tone tufts in 2-4mm. I think they work great for small bushes at this scale.

Agreed, looks really cool

Thanks ulric, I'm really looking forward to getting the tufts on all my marines.

Just some work on the Warlord this week. I managed to take some better pictures of it this week thanks to a little indirect lighting. I decided to go with a white faceplate (thought it looked good) and blue armor plating on the weapons. I still have to finish up the black and metal on the weapons, do the Mechanicus symbol and then the base but he's almost done.

You know, I wasn't that keen on the overall colour/look when you were painting it, but now you've put the 'face' on, I really like it! :D

My only suggestion for further awesom-ification would be to add a few very small areas of hazard striping (like on GW's studio model, or WMN's Titans). I reckon it'd give the overall dark scheme just a little further lift and interest. :)

It is a rather shiny heinie. I had no idea how to paint all the pipes and what not so they got the drybrush treatment. Luckky, baby don't got that much back.

I don't know about the hazard striping. It seems odd to put it on a 30 meter death machine. I still have to do the heraldry though, so that might involve a white panel somewhere and a decal or two.

Agreed, I'd leave them off.

Well as others have mentioned I add them. I do agree that it seems a little daft to have warning stripes on a weapon of war. "Danger: Being stomped by this 30 foot warmachine may be hazardous to your health."

From an aesthetic standpoint I think it is a good way to add some extra detail to your model though. Extra contrast colours are always a good thing and can really bring a miniature to life. Try adding some as an experiment on a surface that is easily repainted and see if you like the difference.

I like Chevrons,

I've included mine on the outside edges of the greaves. I like to think of them in a similar way to the high vis markings on wide vehicles so that when reversing they can cleary see how much room they have. After all you wouldn't want a warlord backing up through your hab block by mistake.

The Command Horizon troops and their GZG APCs were finished this week, complete with a gloss/dullcote and the silfor tufts. Two more of these formations to go. :P
Image

I also finished the Warlord's weapons and base. After took this I realized I missed the Mechanicus symbol so I've still got to do that. I'd still like to but some heraldry on him, anyone know a company that prints custom white decals?
Image

I started work on the Warhounds this week. The metal is done and one of them has had the base put down for the blue.

Nice stuff.

On the yellow and black stripe discussion, don't forget that the yellow and black stripes don't necessarily have to be warning signs, but part of the Titans heraldry or coat of arms. Have a browse through some old mediaeval chivalry books, but the basic gist for colours are that yellow and white are "Metals" and represent gold and silver and others colours are simply "Colours". Patterns or motifs can be as complex as you like, but don't sit Metals with Metals or Colours with Colours.

Got another group of 8 Command Horizon infantry assembled and built this week. They're ready for basing and priming, hopefully I'll get to that this weekend.

Image

These are T10 Wolf tanks from GZG all set to be based and primed.
Image

I worked on these guys the majority of the week. The blue has its shade, base and first highlight coat down. I should be able to finish their other highlights this week.

Not a whole lot of painting this week, but I got some building done.

These are the Wolf light tanks all built and primed. Not sure why I bothered to take a picture, the "flat" gray primer is rather shiny and shows off none of the detail.
Image

And these are my shiny GZG Jupiter tanks.
Image

And another platoon of CH's infantry.
Image

I finally got my magnetic adapters for my air force, so I spent some time getting my TBolts operational for a game on Wednesday. Once I'm done with the hounds I'll start work on these guys.
Image

Finally, he's my progress on the hounds. I finished up the blue on lefty this week. I started painting the white on the head armor, but wasn't sure how much to paint white. The War Griffon's scheme has the entire head yellow, should I follow suite and do all white leaving none of the gunmetal details?

Another quick update (I'm still recovering from the Cleavage Contest on Saturday at King Richard's Faire...). The hounds are nearly done, I just need to finish the black and the bases. It looks like I'll be painting three nights this week so I think that ought to cover it ... :P
