That flaming tank is just superb. This is the mini that just shows how amazing this scale is, and what can be done on a grand scale. Please make a couple of hundred more and send one to each of us. You know, for practice. :)

Thanks guys! On that burn tank. I think it took around 8 to 10 hours just to fabricate the flame and smoke before painting. Lots of going back to reference and tweaking. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Looked like crap until I did a light touch of brown and black on the edges of the flame section.

Thanks guys! So far we are holding steady at a 9.4 and 43 votes. Seven more puts me over 50 and it counts towards your average :)

Yeah! Can you talk me through the technique you used for the gatling gun barrrels at all? Never happy with mine.
The flames from the chimera polish it off :-)

The Gatling barrels were the same as the rest of the non-gold metallic areas. Start off painting them black, coat in boltgun and then start layering on washes of paint, not ink. Started with purple, then went to a red-brown, then to a blackish bit for the last. After that use thin boltgun and build up the highlights leaving some of the areas near recesses alone. then hit it with thinned out Mithril for pop. Last go in with a few glazes of blue and purple to tone the metals.

Cheers dude :-), sound intense but I'll give something like that a go no my next titan.

erm... well moving on. So, after what seems like ages to get this done, I've finally finished up Praetorian. It's been a fun trip and I think I've improved massively with freehand capabilities and other painting skills in the process. Not much to say other than he's up at CMON and I'm hoping that I'll break a 9 with him.

Can't believe i missed the end of the saga !

Stunning ! Honestly the best 6mm ive seen. The detailing would be impressive on a FW Titan*, at 6mm I'm speechless... Stunning.

* If you're going to re-post with more detailing on CMON as mentioned i would recommend putting it next to a 28mm mini or recognizable household object for scale - i expect most of the forum users there have barely seen an epic mini at at a quick glance would assume its 28mm.

Thanks, but I'm not going to repost. I think I've focused on the best areas for the model and a second post would likely be just to fluff my rating which I try not to do. :)

Very nice V, well done. How do you plan to top that in your next installment hey? I loved the strike cruisers but this was just nuts!

Thanks, but I don't know that I will for a while yet. I do still have a 40k dreadnought that needs converting so that will probably be my next attempt to break a 9. Before that happens, though, I've got a lot of things to catch up on.

The next few months should be finishing out the last nine of the BattleTech mechs I have planned, a bunch of IF ground vehicles for my marines, AND reinforcements for my cron army. I've also got to scratch build some avenger fighters for the AdMech list sometime in here. :)

Oh, and get everything ready for Epicomp this year.

(sigh... looks like I'm getting sniped. Praetorian has dropped from a 9.6 to a 9.3 in the past two days.)

Aha, at last, was wondering when it would appear in the top 7. Great to see an epic mini there, as elsmore said.

Considering the styling of the MWR and the amazing paint job on it it's not actually out of then realm if possibility that people don't realize that's actually 6mm. I always expect to do an in-hand shot to give it scale (ala onyx) if to post somewhere not intimately familiar with Epic. :)

I of course voted it a 10 :)
