I don't really like the look of the Battletech minis, but your paint jobs make them seem a whole lot more appealing. Good job!

I agree 100% these were better than the last couple of batches in looks but the battletech line is horribly cast and thought out for a model. The lobo up there has bits on the leg that were so thin that the thing literally broke just pulling it out of the bag and the joint was nearly too thin to even drill for pinning. The HellStar is a pretty nice looking model, but again, the sculptor didn't watch his work and there is either missing detail or odd sizing issues on pieces that should be nearly identical.

For my own purposes I've got 26 mechs that fall into the category of acceptable look to the models and almost all of the, required extensive adjustments to look good and most of those are unseen or clan :)

those cruisers were sublime some of your most impressive work!

Thanks, and yeah, they are some of the best I've put out. They are also some of the longest painting projects I've done too!

This week has mostly be a prep week, I'm in the process of getting most of the stuff I need to paint this winter converted, posed, and primed so that I can just worry about varnish when the cold weather hits. I've probably got one more week of builds to go before I'm done spaced out by a couple of class projects. In any event, I'm also prepping the next version of the AdMech PDF to go out and I've been holding off for a couple of playtests and to get as many of the unit photos in place. I've still got a bit to go on those but I've got a good number done up. Part of those were the Colossus and Crusader robots I got painted up over the weekend:

Great work, and astounding job on making those recently posted battletech minis look so good too.

slick paintjob as always. Smooth color transitions and nice glow effects. I really like your basing also

Thanks guys! I'm not entirely happy with the robots, the crusader in particular. I really need to add some freehand designs or bits to the shoulders and torso to add some interest. They work for the time being so I'll leave you with some WIP of teh pre GS mods to a few Battletech Unseen models I've been working on in an attempt to make them look decent:

Nice work on re-posing the mechs, i always thought the marauder model needed some work to make a decent unit out of it, the arms are to long and the legs are difficult to get right on the model as it comes.

Not a big update really, but a significant one none the less. One of my major projects from now till christmas is going to be painting up the last Reaver for Cal. I'm planning on a rather significant amount of freehand so this guy has taken quite some time to prepare between posing, cleaning and fixing the model. The carapace is the final piece of that and although it doesn't look it, there's been some rather time consuming fixes that I've had to do before it was ready for painting. The most difficult of those were fixing the broken extensions off the lower front of the carapace armor on the left and right sides. I'd had a similar issue with a previous reaver however I still had the bits in the bag so I was able to just glue those in place and reinforce them. These on the other hand required a complete resculpt which took several sittings per side. I'm pretty happy with the end result though. This means that after I finish the last of the colossus robots sitting half painted on the desk this weekend I'll be going full bore on the reaver. Unfortunately I probably won't have him done in time for EpiComp this year but he should be finished and good to go for next year :)

Mate,

You are a legend, love your work. Love the mechs, they are some of my favourite mechs you have there. I have to say I like the earlier. Versions compared to the current stuff. I think they have lost the feel. I really liked the early mechwarrior series of games. Looking forward to seeing this Reaver take form.

Cheers
Aaron

just a note on exactly how crazy my life has been since thanksgiving. These 8 were finished that weekend and I haven't had time to even take pics to post much less pick up a brush to do anything.

This finishes up my colossus robots for epic. These guys are based on US pennies.

Just discovered this site and your thread through a link on Dakka...Ive had to lift my jaw up of the floor and clean up the drool, your paintwork is simply amazing! Page 60 stands out for me...would love to see more progress pics of your latest Reaver...and possibly some of those slick new DropZone Commander models!

Keep being awesome!

Time to dredge up this thread. Now that the holidays are over I'm back with a little bit of painting. This is the start to the third and final epic reaver titan and it's planned to be a rather special piece. As such the base got far more attention than is typical. Next up are the legs.

Mate,

Very very cool indeed. I am sure Jimmy will be suitably impressed with the Chimera on the base. Looking forward to seeing more.

Cheers
Aaron
