I can't take full credit there. Apocolocyntosis suggested it in another thread where I was enquiring about basing.
The small mossy clumps are from Silfor (who I use for my 28mm + stuff, but didn't realise they went so small at the time).
The green is standard clump foliage, but I superglue it on, then pull all the large bits off with tweezers when its dry to reduce the scale down.
The sand is a bag of budgie sand I've had for over two decades.
One thing that I do, is use AK interactive gravel fixer to seal my sand before priming, that sort of helps smooth it down a little, to reduce the size of grains in a weird way.
Well, isn't that clever! I love it! Super-gluing the clump foliage down and then picking it off is pure genius.
I use Silflor on my 28mm historicals and I had forgotten that they have the 2mm stuff. It looks like you use the 2mm Autumn color which is that brownish tone. They look really good on there.
I am getting ready to experiment with basing sand ideas. I live in San Diego, so I have free beach sand (super-fine). I have a 2 1/2 year-old, so I can get playground sand (somewhat coarse) as well. I'd like to see if I can use the free stuff before I go exploring pet supply stores and Vallejo Sandy Paste.
Thank you for sharing those tips. I appreciate it!
(Frantically searching for the basing thread now)
