Nice work, Dave. Of course, now that Harriot is on a proper stand, you won't be able to land her on top of one of my Reavers.

Thanks guys. I think?

With NEAT come and gone I wanted to head back to the Warmaster Elves that have been waiting to go since the New Year. I started with the Archers, and began with a single strip to figure out the order I should paint everything in.

Image

Most of the color combination game from GW's High Elf painting articles. I usually left out a step, figuring that three paints (rather than four) per color on a 10mm model ought to be good enough.

Image

The best part of the whole thing? Painting the eyes! I know these sculpts have been around for ten years or so but I'm finding just how nice they are now (and spotting a few mistakes thanks to this close-up...).

I'm planning on starting on the assembly line painting next week, so hopefully I'll be able to finish four units by the end of July.

You painted their eyes? What the hell is wrong with you?!

EDIT: The words "you overly-talented mutter-mutter-mutter", do not, I feel, need to be spoken.

what happened to their feet? Going by the proportions of the model it looks like they're up to their ankles in mud or something.

impressive miniatures though, feet issue aside :)

They're elves Matt, in long dresses robes. Their feet are under them.

If it's not floor-length, Elves won't be caught dead in it.

Honestly, when's the last time you saw an elf in capris?

sure sure, but since when did Elves have really short legs and long torsos? Big heads and big ears, fine; short legs too?

Are those really WM Elf models for Archers? They look silly short! But at least the paint job makes them look better, good job.

Dave, What do you use to put your guys on strips like that for painting and priming? I have a Company of the 101st that need's some painting done and FoW didn't sell them on the spure!

The models are an average height for 10mm. Maybe it was the angle I photographed them at that makes them look short?

I just used corrugated cardboard strips that I cut up along with some white glue. It holds them on there pretty good. I plan to soak them in water after dullcoting them to get them off the strips.

Hmmmm.....you mean a varnish when you say dullcoat right? Pooop. How would you get them off if you weren't going to varnish them? Or do you have another plan to stick them on something to paint them? Eh?

I like to use paint stirring sticks from Home Depot for Warmaster.
Just a small dab of Superglue to hold the figs in place and you've got a whole unit on a stick.
Plus the sticks are free and reusable.
