bit of a pause on marines, going to poke at a few side projects

First up is a DKoK Leviathan, im slowly rolling back towards sorting my IG, especially tank and ogryn regiments

I never got one of the briefly available 'hungry whale' pattern forumware leviathans, but wanted something similarly 'modern' looking to accompany my forumware-heavy kreige. Vanguard carry the DiD novum dictum – a nice mini and i prefer its command deck over the hungry whale, buuut I wanted the tracks to match GW style SHTs. So i've used the tracks off an old forumware baneblade, stuck em onto a novum dictum and swapped the weapons around. FW tracks would work too, they'd just involve a lot more sawing to make fit. (hungry whale had a longer track base, but this fits 'ok')

that sounds pretty simple but took me a while as i decided to use green stuff rather than original cast parts to save bitz. Given it heavy flamers for point defence instead of using all twin las.

fudging it with plastic spacers. I could only find a meter long ruler, which is a little impractical for 6mm modelling, so this was a mark-and-bodge affair :D milliput slurry covers a multitude of sins

Image

plan to use it as a gorgon, to mark which gorgon the SC is being trasnported in

Yikes, that's an awfully pretty beast of a thing. Tempted to copy (not blatantly, so much as heavily inspired by...) that for my own Dictum... First step, get good at modeling.

On a completely unrelated issue - do you know anyone that still has a pair of tracks for such a project? :D

first of two death wheels built. having fought a couple at Oxford I decided I should finally finish building the ones I started years ago :D

I'd purchased some guns from the GW 40k sitarii range to use on these, but found they looked a bit big and that I had no easy way to mount them. So for this one i've settled on ork battle wagon turrets, same as WMN's.

Not sure what faction to paint this for, Black Legion or Iron Warriors. Leaning towards BL but im not sure how much i be able to make it stand out in black.

Should get the second one built tomorrow, khorne themed.

Cheers Kev, Post pics when you do, always good too to see your work

second death wheel built, this one for khorne. swinging berzerkers were a suggestion from jimmy when we were talking about death wheels a few weeks back, though I ended up using wire not chain as getting the chain to stay in place seemed like a fiddle.

Will go beck and add some more choas arrows to the white plastic before I undercoat. Also need to build up some intersting bases for the pair. That aside, it'll be more work on a 3rd chaos war engine next (not a death wheel!).
