Thanks! These almost didn't make it. I was hitting them with matte varnish sunday night and 4 out of 5 of them frosted on me because I didn't check humidity before I sprayed. Thankfully it wasn't an adherance issue and I was able to hit them with a second coat of gloss to fix it.

The bits are a conversion kit I helped Zac over on resin addict put together last year (I came up with the prow and he built it, so mostly zacs work).

Good to see some more Vaaish craftsmanship. Putting (most) of us to shame again :-) Keep it up.

Stunning work on the crafts, as said by others the engine thrusters really finish the models off well ;)

just wondering Whats the reason for staying away from inks ::)

Love your build-up of colours. The side panels look amazingly smooth. Great work (as always).

Probably just because it's too easy for him and his ungodly painting abilities :D

Somewhat reminds me of a quote by Alpharius

In the past I've usually just given BFG stuff several drybrushes and washes to build up color, highlights, and shade panel lines but it's never good enough for Gothicomp and I figured it was time to go ahead and put together a bit more in depth paint job. So partly because I wanted to see if I could push my limits again and partly in hopes I'll place better in Gothicomp. Looking back at them, I should probably put some kind of freehand flourishes or decorative elements on the bone part of the prow since it looks a bit empty.

Cheers for the info Vaaish, I see what you mean about the detail, the crafts looks stunning and a job
well done, totally agree that adding some frehand would look great on the bone parts.

Good luck in the epi comp, look forward to future updates ;)

Thanks but it might be a while before more epic shows up. I've got 6-10 mechs to paint up and then I have a very long paint project for one of Cal's models as well as thunerhawks which will take some time to paint so it might be a couple months for more epic to show up here :(

Thanks. These are a bit more complex (read: properly painted) techniques that I usually don't do because I get bored or I have a lot to get done or just doesn't show up at scale. Anyway, there are three primary colors used here: Scorched Brown, Dark Flesh, and Vomit brown. The models were primed white then undercoated in scorched brown for shading followed by extremely thin layers of Dark flesh to blend up (almost a glaze). THe dark flesh was mixed with Vomit for successive highlight layers until I reached pure vomit brown. Then a glaze of dark flesh was applied to unify the tones followed by a few sharp hightlights of vomit and bone here and there to define lines and shape.

It really comes down to spending three hours and barely seeing the difference between what you started with.

Brilliant!
What are these for models? Doesn't look like Father Waldo nor Grandma Wendy ones.

These models are for Battle Fleet Gothic. The hulls are standard GW strike cruiser hulls but a friend of mine helped modify the fins at the back and the prows to be a bit better looking. Here's a link to the standard ones: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1101872

BTW, I've put a couple up on CMON if anyone wants to vote: http://www.coolminiornot.com/309559
