Since some of you people have experience in using magnets in modelling I'd like to ask some questions:
1.) I assume Wondermagnet is the place to go?
- Are there any European distributors?
2.) What size magnets do you use to hold Titan weapons?
3.) What size would you use to hold Dreadnought / Wraithlord weapons?
4.) How about Predator Sponsons?

Hi..
For my titan weapons i use Neodym magnets
Neodym magnets on ebay
These are one of the strongest magnets on earth. I have used others before, but they weren't strong enough and lost their magnetism after a while.
You can get them in various sizes. I use the smallest size I have found, with 5 mm diameter and 2 mm heigth. I have filed of the weapons carrier and the weapon itself and glued one magnet on each side with superglue. Beware to glue the right sides of the magnets, so that you can exchange the weapons.
I'm absolutely happy with the results.

I stopped glueing on turrets because of cheap affordable magnets.
I also recommend getting some paper steel as well as...
Making some magnetic polarity test wands.

When I first heard about this idea I was very excited. I then went out at the next con and asked around. What I saw was good, but I do want to say this;
If you go this route, take the time to do it right. I saw a few who had just glued them on and the turrets sat funny on the body. It took away from the mini in my opinion. Others had taken the time to counter sink the magnets and they looked good.

This is something many of the people I spoke to said you need to do. Each had a story of how they had glued magnets wrong on some mini.

DOING IT RIGHT: I know what you mean.
FLUSH MOUNTS: I drill a whole so that I can mount my magnets flush with the vehicle's body/chassis.
MAGNET + STEEL PAPER SHIM: I also mount my turrets on a very flat shim or cut-out of paper steel. I never have polarity problems if I do that even though I do check to get all of my polarities the same.
MAGNETIC POLARITY TEST WANDS: I built "magnet test wands" using to dowels cut to size with the magnets of two different polarities mounted ont heir ends. I painted each magnet a different color (red and blue) to make it easy to check polarity. I also mounted the wands on a metal washer so that they stand easy.
Additionally, I made an extra set of wands for my friend Rob. It's good to have ?friend like me!

WARLORD TITANS: Warlord Titans are much better with magnetic weapon points. My latest titans are fully magnetic now. It's a real boon if you want to try out different weapon loads.
MAGNETICALLY MOUNTED VEHICLE TURRETS: It's also very handy for vehicles. My Whirlwinds and Razorbacks are now interchangeable. I can also swap the turrets on Chimeras and others.

MAGNET SIZES: I've found that 1/8" and 1/16" (inch) magnets work in almost every application. 1/16" magnets can be mounted with a mocelling regular pin vise. I bought a larger "tool shop" pin vise to hold a 1/8" drill bit (Buy the titanium one... it's worth it) to drill out holes for the larger kind.
MAGNET/PAPER STEEL MOUNTING: Don't mount two magnets if possible. Drill and mount the body/chassis with a magnet and then attach the tuurets with a paper steel circle cut out witha ?hole punch or leather punch.
TITAN/GARGANT ARMS: Many Titan arms do need two 1/8" magnets though.
E-40k HATCH SPRUES: I've even found that I can mount the hatch sprues from Imperial E-40k vehciles with paper steel and a 1/16" magnets (1/8" will also work, but I prefer the smaller magnet when a larger one isn't needed.).
DREADNOUGHTS: I haven't made any swappable Dreadnoughts yet, but I'd think that either size would work with the larger (1/8") probably being preferable.

I have seen it done with the other Titans as well. One person had done it with the Warhounds. It did not look bad. He did have to try a few different magnets until he found one that was strong enough (or so he told me).
The hard part he told me was finding the "extra" weapons so he could field all the various combos he wanted to.
