Everybody loves a cool drop ship. I think it all started with the dropship from Aliens or maybe it goes back to the simple shuttle craft from Star Trek and continues with the Pelican drop ship in HALO.
I pick up a few different types of dropship in the intention of creating many different 6mm armies. I had some comparison pictures in the trade section. Along with those, Dave asked me for some additional comparison pictures, so I figured it would benefit the community to post all the pictures in a new thread.
The following is primarily Reaper's "True Scale" dropships/APCs from their CAV miniature line. The true scale was a scale correction they did to the original models. Many of these models were cast smaller at first. It is the same as comparing GW flyers to Forge World flyers. The Forge World models appear to be true to scale. While CAV is a 10mm line they work great as 6mm dropships.
http://www.reapermini.com/miniatures/true%20scaleI picked up three types, the Czar, the Badger, and, Hedgehog
The Czar appeared to be Tauish to me

The Badger seemed Necron in style, very boxy

The Hedgehog uses the Imperial aerodynamic principle, which means it lacks any concession to streamlining.

Here are the comparison pictures to a Forge World Thunderhawk, Thunderbolt, and some infantry stand ins.

Now you might have noticed one little odd one in the pictures. That is actually a re-imaged Battletstar Galactica Raptor miniature. The mini comes from Studio Bergstrum. I purchased these models for a little BSG fleet I did. I discovered by accident that it really made a splendid little VTOl. It seems to be a perfect fit as an Imperial utility/Scout VTOL.
http://studiobergstrom.com/index.php?productID=36The Imperial Valkyries and Vultures are great models, but the GW ones are too small and the Forge World models are too fragile in epic scale.
I think there are some additional models in the Reaper true scale line that would make some great attack gunships, such as the Ghast and the Fenri models. I don't own these to make comparison shots.

I hope this helps and enjoy the pictures.
