I just received my first Great Gargant and after looking parts for a while I came to conclusion that it will be pain in the ass to assemble.

So, do any of you, who have no doubt built hundreds of Gargants, have any tips you have learned while building them? So that I don't have to make same mistakes someone has allready done in the past.

Oh, and BTW I am the "Convert" Teekkari mentioned in that Battle Report a while back. MY Ork army is growing steadily. Atm I have about 1500 worth of painted greenskins and just today received 10 blisters more and that Great Gargant.

Thanks for any help.

Im taking it ur speaking of the mk5 Great Gargant.
And yes this model is a pain to get right.
Ive made 3 of them before.
The best methord Ive found is this....
Get the four hull sections and the top bit.
Glue the sides to the front and wait till the super glue is hafe set "tacky".
Then glue the top on, and then the rear section. If you do all this whilst the glue hasnt fully set the joins will still be pliable and u can get everything to sit right "well as good as they will anyway"

Ur never gona get all these parts to sit flush with eah other. Trust me Ive tried and they just dont fit.
As long as you get the front and top looking right u can fill the gaps at the rear of the model.
After youve completely built the model Id stongly sudject filling it with Milliput "or your chosen modeling clay".
This gives the model much needed added strength.
If you do this youll end up with a realy nice looking gargant.

Things to remember when biulding a Mk5 are
Dont try and get the peices to sit flush with one other. They just wont. If you try building it by glueing two sections together flush and then adding a 3rd and a 4th youll just end up with the last section is either too big to fit in place or too small leaving big gaps that look nasty.
A good example of this is glueing the two side sections to the front and then trying to fit the back section in. If you have glued the sides flush with the front youll find ?they spead out too much at the back and the rear section wont fit.
Also remember that the best place to have sizable gaps it at the rear. Here they are easy to fill and hiden away.

You can check out my Burna and Brooza Gangants here.

Niether of which are standard models but the basic build rules are the same.

Thank you very much.

I believe it's the mk5. It certainly isn't one of the older/rounder ones.

Hey Krooza,  what kind of rulez do you use with that Leviathan that you made pictured on your site?  And how did you make it, just glue six battlewagons together?

I found that Gargant a pain to put together as well.

Here's my advice:

- Pinning
- I cut up paper clips and drill holes to make mounting points strong. This has worked well for me on many of the flimsier Gragant joints.

- Poster Tack
- Use blue poster tack stuff to keep the joint in the position you want. I usually put a little on the bottom of the socket where it won't show. I usually leave it there even after glueing if it doesn't show. The insides of my Gargants have a good helping of that stuff.

- Filler Putty
- For big gaps, I use filler putty such as Squadron plastic model filler to make gaps disappear. Due to the ramshackle nature of Gargants, you can use all kinds of "patching" materials and still have the Gargant look great such as plasticard, overhead transparencies, etc.

- Super Glue Accelerant -
- For really tough attachment points that you don't want to have to hold in place for 30 minutes, I recommend using super glue accelerant. The bond is a little less strong, but the glue hardens in seconds rather than minutes or longer.

- Extra hands AKA clamps
- For some tough glueing, I use electronics clamps (a little stand with alligator clips) to hold my joint in place as it dries.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi!

Those are good tips Makim. I always found gargant models to be a pain in the butt to put together, these ideas will make it easier.

Assembled that G.Gargant yesterday and it was actually easier than I thought. Just lots of Epoxy and some blue-tack to keep parts together while glue is hardening.

But those Ideas did help, otherwise I would've probably first glued to parts together and so on. But It wasn't too difficult to glue those four main parts together on one go.

I'll take some pictures from it once I get it painted.
