I see. Now you have me curious; do you have any of those pics from the older catalogues around?

Gorgeous Eldar, Warmaster. I especially like the Dreadnought.

Thanks DS, though technically that would be a Spirit Warrior (Or Jumbo-Wraithguard if you will :p )I'm going to use it as an Exodite Exo Suit for NEtEpic Gold. Actually a pretty nice model too. Those Mk1 models are a bit crude in places, but overall I actually like them better than the later edition models for the most part.

Vaaish: I'll see what I can dig out.

Yup. Void spinner. I can't help but think that if this turret was available seperately it could make an interesting light scout tank of sorts, with a bit of conversion.

I genuinely thought is was a new/separate model... they would make brilliant light AFVs...

Yeah, add a couple of shruikens from the E40k Eldar aircraft and you'll be rocking I think.

Small update on the superheavies. Started on the detailing. The large flat panels on the hulls invite to some freehand. I'm keeping it simple as I don't really have time to fix any serious mistakes. The stuff on the Cobra didn't turn out quite as well as I could have hoped though.

Yeah, my bad. It's actually a Vampire Spirit Warrior, to use its original name. In any case, a rose by any other name...

So you like mixing Craftworld typical markings?

From left to right i see:
Saim-Hann and Alaitoc markings, Saim-Hann and Ulthwé markings, both sides Iyanden markings.

Yup. Technically the craftworld is Alaitoc. As mentioned earlier the army was started back in the SM2 days when the stuidio army was Alaitoc, and the vehicles had the classic tiger stripe yellow color scheme. This was later changed to a scheme that had predominantly yellow hulls and blue turrets. When the Eldar army for E40k was released there was a feature in White Dwarf with Jonas Ekestam's excellently painted Eldar army which I then decided to try and copy. The end result is an army that borrows a bit from here and there, going strictly by the Rule of Cool rather than following any "codex" schemes. Besides Eldar like to decorate each vehicle individually so it'd be kind of boring if they ended up looking like every other Alaitoc, Iyanden, Saim-Hann or Ulthwe army out there

Point is that GW keeps changing color schemes and symbols all the time (the white stripes on Saim-Hann vehicles is a fairly recent addition for example). If you paint something up to be "codex" chances are that 5 years later it won't be anymore, so I'd rather go for what I personally think looks interesting.

A small side project while I'm waiting for paint to dry on the Super Heavies:

When running through my bitz box I came across an old pillar I had intended to use for some city terrain. I figured it might look good as a sort of "victory column" so I decided to add it to an old piece of terrain which I felt looked a bit bare. This is also my first experiment with some pastel chalk powder for the weathering. I've used a mix of a turquise and and army green. Not perfect but for a first attempt I'm quite happy with the result.

I think verdigris is overdone (like any other mini-painting fad) when I visit places like CMoN etc and see it splattered everywhere - over copper, brass, silver, gold, iron...

But yours looks good, because it looks natural. :)  More subdued than bright hawk turquoise over bright shiny copper, and not just washed into every recess (which would be a bit difficult with pastel powder, I imagine).  Nice one!
