In case you're curious as to what my Firestorms look like:

(the pics don't do them justice, trust me, they are far worse IRL)

Does anyone know anything about what kind of mold process FW uses?

I swear a lot of their stuff looks like they're just pouring resin into a silicone mold on a desktop.

FW doesn't cast the Epic scale stuff in-house, it's sub contracted (To a one-man operation AFAIK).

My forgeworld orders are normally quite good.

The only things I can think off (out of over a grads worth of orders)are:

Missing Trygon lower jaw
missing epic baneblade turret
2 missing capacitor things for  40K revaer.

All were sorted out with a phone call (though I always seem to get through to a guy called Stu).

Then we have the problem then.

I've never had a problem with their 40K stuff only Epic stuff.

I received my replacement order. It was obvious that no-one inspected what they shipped out.

Not sure what to do here. I can either A. try to somehow carve some plastic bits for the cannon muzzles, B. try and carve cannon muzzles out of green stuff, or C. order a pack of GW Firestorms and take the turrets off of them and put it on the body of the FW ones.

Edit: And I didn't receive my replacement Warhounds, but the guy said it may take longer as he wanted to look into the issue of its mold being damaged.

Depending on the gun barrels you want, you might do better snipping a straight portion of a paper clip for the basic barrel, then working from there.

Some of those Firestorm turrets (at least four) are usable. If you warm them up by leaving them in some hot (but not boiling) water, they become pliable and if you're gentle you can bend them back into shape. The barrels were bent on one of mine, but it wasn't too tricky to sort out. I had a bent fin on one of my Nightwings which I straightened out the same way.

Yeah I know what you mean by bending resin. I do it quite a lot. What those pictures don't show you are the massive amounts of airbubbles in the muzzles.

Believe me, I wouldn't work with resin without knowing how to fix small problems like bent resin and a few air bubbles. These on the other hand are in a league of their own.

Yup, that's what mine were like.  Bent, broken and virtually every muzzle unformed because of bubbles.  I got 1 out of 6 that was as good as the picture on their site.

Ah, right, sorry, fair enough then.

You're right, those aren't that visible in the pics. Guess I just got lucky with mine then; I only had one small bubble in the muzzle of one barrel, and that was minor enough that I could fill it with putty and it looked all right.

My order came through in record time - 13 days!

Only a quick glance at my order last night and a firestorm is damaged at the least - 1 has had the weapon barrels sheared off on the cockpit. Will have a better look tonight but from what I saw the rest are similar to Malakai's at the top of this page.

Well part of my order came in - 3 bags of Chimeras and 2 bags of Wave Serpents. 4 Bags of Falcons are on backorder sadly.

7/9 Chimeras and 6/6 wave serpents are pristine, although 2/9 chimeras both have half of their lasgun turrents shorn off. I was actually quite surprised considering the stories on this thread.

Now to track down someone who has access to a landline during the work day...  :sigh:

I received an Email from FW today stating that they plan to refund me the cost of my Firestorms by way of apology and when better quality ones are available they will be sent to me.

The FW manager called their condition "terrible" and "unacceptable."

So hey guys, have a problem with your stuff? Take pictures and show them. Make sure to call them also.

I'm glad FW have renewed my faith in their customer service.

well I orded few thing from FW abut a year ago (19.5.08) the last reameaning things i gut last week...
i orded 9 manticores, 3 shadowswords, 3 salamander scouts, 3 chimeras and 1 administratum bulding:
6 manticores went straight to backorder, 1 shadowsword had no sensor turret (gut 3 more), 1 chimera had one airbubble (first for me in FW product) but it didn't cause any problems, the building and the scouts were good, gut the first 3 manticores then gut the last 6 a month ago in the mail and 6 more last week, all the manticores had airbubbles (the last 6 were the worst) all on the back of the chassis- guess i was lucky...

Just glad they got you sorted out Malakai. It's just bad business practice, lazy and typically backward. Welcome to the UK.
