Hi E.,
Check out EM-4 for flying bases.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. | Thanks that is a great site. Found what I was after straight away.

I'm using round bases for my new SM army. I've not played with it yet, so don't know how people will react. I've heard some people can be funny about non-standard bases. What I've done is taken a 40k round base, put some Green Stuff on it, added a bit of sand and pressed an epic SM into it 5 times to give 5 little holes to stick the minis into. I let it all dry, then stuck it to a bit of foam card, built up a little wall of plasticene around it, and squirted some bathroom silicon sealer over it. Let it dry for about a 4 or 5 days, then I had a mould, and I can cast bases from hard plaster from my local art shop whenever I like. It looks good, and it saves time and flock as well. regards, Reaver

I've made flying bases out of bent paper clips and warmaster bases (which incidently i am basing everything on atm - lovely big bases...).

Quote (Brother-Captain Augustine @ 24 Mar. 2006 (05:29)) | What is the consensus on base shape for infantry units?
I've read the rulebook, and was just wondering if most people used the basic strips or if people tried the round base approach. ?I saw someone who had done a SM army on round bases and it looked pretty good. ?So far I've managed to talk myself out of starting epic, but only because there isn't an official list for my Daemonhunter army (although Lord Inquisitor's Task Force is looking really good!)
Jon | For nostalgia reasons I prefer using the old square bases, but it sure is easier to paint the minis on the strip bases. I haven't used round bases, but I wouldn't mind if my opponent did.

I use the square bases for my old armies simply because I started in the SM1 era and don't want to have differend kind of bases in a single army.
