Post subject:  NetERC Member responsibilities?
Again, I'd ask the ERC and ACs to let this run until Friday before throwing their own ideas in.

What do people see as the responsibilities of the NetERC Members? Whether each specific member or the group as a whole.

Specifically, I'm after things they should be doing (what, where, how often, with who, etc). In other words, something the community, ACs and NetERC can use to evaluate whether or not the member is doing a good job or not. CS already outlined things in his Summary and Suggestions topic, I'm looking to see if people agree/disagree/want to expand.

in short - to make sure things get done.

The ERC are the consultants, not the contractors. They're ahead of the pack in terms of where we're taking the game in the future, and they're standing behind you when you get tempted to say 'sod it, it's good enough.'

They're the final authority on rules decisions, approved lists and professionalism of members.
they are the quality controllers for this fan-made game.

I think CS' overview covered it well.

I think regular presence and participation should be expected. Since the positions vary a lot, I think it'll depend on the position what would be expected beyond that.

they should be willing to "do the work" when called on. if they are the Human Army Development Guy, they should be able to be called upon to provide an opinion, and preferably playtest, any list that falls in their jurisdiction. ditto for the xenos guy. if they're the rules guy, and the rules need a new FAQ or erratta, they should be the ones fixing the PDF. ditto for supplments guy and suppliment changes.
honestly, i'm not sure what head honcho is supposed to do. ask these kind of questions i guess :P
(ok, he should be the one cracking the whip on the others, and if any of them falls sick or otherwise unavailable, he should be stepping in to whatever gap is there)

they should be open about their decisions and the reasons for making them
they should provide oversight, guidance, advice, and encourage growth and development in their respective areas

Personally I'd like to see the ACs and ERC become a single quorum with a maximum 9 members. I'm not sure multiple levels of administration makes sense for the size, fluidity and volunteer nature of our community.

Given the current structure, I guess ERCs should always be available to answer questions within, say, a month of asking (otherwise step down or hand over to someone else temporarily).
