Post subject:  Glossary: What is EpicComms?

Here's the first line of a typical sticky in the Epic Armageddon section of the board.

Quote:
Board index » Epic Armageddon » EpiComms EA Rules Amendments » EpiComms Development Structure:
EpiComms Rules Development Board (NetERC)
I have now set up an alternate ERC.

:o

As an interested and enthusiastic new player, the terms bandied about can be very confusing – and as far as I can find, there's no easy way of clarifying the contractions and terms. I thought I'd start up a glossary to help ease 'outsiders' (like me) in to the world of Tactical Command.

However, I must admit I'm clueless to quite a few of the definitions. If any kind 'veterans' could post the answers, additions, clarifications or corrections I'll collect them together in this thread. Ideally, I'd like to have a thread to which I can point people who express an interest in Epic, in order that they can quickly get up to speed on the various terms used on this very helpful and useful forum.

+++

TacCommTactical Command – A community forum for the discussion of numerous games, notably various iterations of Games Workship's Epic scale games; Exodus Wars and Battlefleet Gothic.

EpiCommEpic Command – An term referring to an older, now-obselete version of the Tactical Command forum.

NetEANet Epic: Armageddon – A volunteer community of international Epic players that provides ongoing support and updates for Games Workshop's Epic: Armageddon, the latest version of Games Workshop's 6mm tabletop wargame

NetERCNet Epic Rules Committee[?] – [???]

EpicUK – A volunteer community that provides ongoing support and updates for Epic: Armageddon, with a particular emphasis on tournament gaming in the UK. [?]

FERCFrench Epic Rules Committee[?] – An equivalent to the NetERC, that caters to the French Epic community[?]

AC – Army Champion – an individual recognised by the NetEA community to be responsible for a particular army (such as Ghazghkull's War Horde, or Raven Guard). The Army Champion's role is flexible, but generally involves presenting a raw army list for players to playtest, then collecting and collating commentary, data and battle report results to develop the army list. Their ongoing goal is to produce an army list that is balanced with existing armies, and to present it in a timely organised fashion.

EDIT:
1) EpiComms definition updated.

Epicomms was an old label used when this forum was hosted by something called the Epicomms server or something. It should probably be retired.

This would make an excellent wiki page when done. Just for a historical diversion.... EpiComms.... This was the original name for the forum, when we were using Proboards. When we moved to our own forum software, the forum was split into three main sections - Epic discussion, BFG discussion, and everything else. These were labelled EpiComms, GothiComms and BattleComms, respectively. With subsequent forum software changes, the ability to have three forums vanished, and the EpiComms label appears to have lingered in a few places to refer to the 'Epic sections' of these boards. I do see how all of the acronyms can be confusing, and the last thing that we want is put up more barriers for new players, so many thanks for bringing this up.
