Can someone please point me to the un-written rules for Epic ? I'm keen to know what's not in the rule book. Thanks all |

Thanks for that positive answer, Steve. But I'm serious. How else can I correct errors? No point copping crap from people in the future is there? |

Besides the objectives one, and it's two interpretations and RAW, the one big one I can think of is "within" with regards disembarking from a vehicle. Some interpret it as "partly within", and some interpret it as "fully within". Can make a huge difference in how formations work. Neither is an incorrect interpretation regards the actual rules. Some say that the "birthday rule" is actually a joke, and not a serious rule! ![]() |

I can't think of anything in EA that can't be discussed+agreed in the 5min warm up before a game as long as both players behave as adults. |

The problem is, the list of interpretive rules is getting larger and larger, to the point where discussing it with someone who isn't current with these lists, would definitely take more than 5 minutes. And if things are missed, it can have a definite impact on the game. It seems like the 5 Min Warmup is the Epic analogy of "Just roll off" for rules generation, which just feels inadequate. Currently on the list for rules, there's Barrage Allocations Speed Rollings CAPing Caps When is a unit in cover (fraction, more than half, fully?) Measurement from objectives Aircraft rules (defensive definition) Deployment from vehicles (partially or fully) Then there's table discussions Defining terrain to the Terrain Types. Any changes to those Terrain Types (I've seen Hills/Craters not blocking LOS being used a fair bit) Terrains counting as cover for AA. And Army List dicussions Any Special Rules explained Any Special Units explained Any template weaponry (barrages) and ranges. Any spacecraft/teleporters/webways/air transports Any counts-as or non-GW proxies That's just the list off the top of my head, and with a few quick searches. The latter two categories are fine for the most part, but the rules questions should be defined IMO. Morgan Vening |

Quote: Barrage Allocations Speed Rollings CAPing Caps None of those are in any way ambiguous unless you're simply changing the rules of the game. |

Wasn't the whole Barrage/Speed Rolling thing a big dispute a while back, in this thread? Specifically regarding "exact same type". I know it was finally ruled, but it went through several possible variants, and even if resolved adequately, only fails to become a potential point of contention if both players are up to date here. If not, it's something that needs to be brought up. Morgan Vening |

There was a thread a long time ago that attempted to collate a '5 min warm up template', not sure what happened to it. Most of Morgan's lists can be covered in the 5 min warm up. The only thing is CAPing CAP, which isn't a rule in Epic so only needs discussing if the rules pack has introduced it. |

Morgan: I guess I never found the Barrage rule particularly ambiguous in the first place. ![]() |

Oh, and the other thing I think needs adding to my list, is which version of the FAQ/Errata. Some people will only want the official 2008 stuffs. Others will want Neal's version. And others may have a twisted desire to stick with just what's officially printed. Morgan Vening |
